Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

@thegreenreaper6660
Жыл бұрын
I think a 2nd Spinoff, showcasing the rise of the Juarez Cartel titled "Salamanca", could be a very good story. Not just how Don Eladio rose to power as Head of this powerful Cartel, but showcasing how Eladio opportunisticly SEIZED the moment, where it actually was the Salamanca's that búilt the empire! The main plot being Don Hector, acting like the Muscle of this dangerous cooperation: eliminating enemy's all around, táking the heat, and even have his relatives taken out in acts of revenge and retribution. For instance, it was néver mentioned if Hector had a family of his own(most likely, brutally murdered in a retribution?), nor the family he came from: Tuco, Lalo, Marco and Lionel were his COUSINS! Meaning Hector had a brother: the fáther to those cousins..perhaps more then 1 brother even: All taken out in gruesome acts of revenge by the Juarez' Cartel's enemy's and competitors? ..and ofcourse the story of 'the Bell', as an Easter-Egg. Could evne be that Hector's (older?)brother actually was the leader of the Salamanca Family, but was taken out by another powerful rival, causing Hector to take his place? Perhaps this could be written in the story that Hector júst had taken over the role of Don HEctor Salamanca: the leader of the family, at the moment where the Juarez Cartel's enemy's were vanquished, causing this Cartel to completely consolidate their position in Juarez as thé dominant Crime Organisation? And as a very opportunistic detail: Since Hector 'just was promoted to Leader of the Salamancas'. Eladio abusing that sudden turn of events in making Hector a Don at his table,....the table where Eladio was the Don of the entire Cartel? Introductions to every member of the Juarez Cartel. Every single name that Gus named to Hector when he showed him Eladio's necklace. Every role they played: Distribution from the south through Juarez, to the USA. Bolsa as the 'political' trigger, keeping everyone safe from proscecutions, Eladio himself having Ministers and Judges in his pocket(thanks to Hector's blackmailing, kidnapping, threats, and grotesque murders and tortures of key figures in the System?). And as an importand plotline: How Gustavo Fring got connected with the Cartel, why Hector hated him! Hector ínsisting to Eladio that Fring was to be disposed of, yet Eladio knowing that Fring was a genius in distributions and front/cover-businesses: Eladio knew he needed Fring to make enormous profits! Al lthe other Dons put in their respective share, but nóne made as much profit as Gustavo! Driven bij Greed, Eladio knew he had to keep Gustavo on a leash...as well as Hector: Pitting them against eachother, to maximise his profit?

@@thegreenreaper6660 I think the beauty of this show is how it closes the loops we didn't even know were there, giving us all the lessons these charscters were going to give. Lalo died because he lived in a world of power and cruelty and was finally confronted with someone of comparable intelligence and greater patience. Mike was what Walter lied to himself about being, sinking into the filth for his family, but losing everything any way because you can't be a good man in that world and live. Jimmy was revived because he accepted responsibility for his actions, and would have lost his chance to reconcile with Kim if he had continued to skirt punishment. The Salemanca's died off, piece by piece, because of their entrenchment in that life. We saw each loop closed and we know why. Their greed, their entitlement, and their callous disregard for anyone outside their family is what set the stage for the world to reciprocate and eliminate them. That's kind of the whole theme of the universe, you either get killed, get out, or do the time. The only character from the universe who's still alive is Mike's daughter in law Stacey. Mike took great pains to keep her uninvolved, so the only thing involving her I'd like to see is a 20 minute episode of her getting a promotion and Kaylee getting into private school. It wouldn't be realistic for her to willingly step into the criminal experience, but maybe if something from the past drew her in a series about her trying to get out could work. Every other character from the show got in of their own accord, so seeing someone sucked in unwillingly and how they deal with that would allow Gilligan to expand upon his theme on the consequences of criminality. You kind of got that with Nacho and his father though, so it would have to be a great premise for them to go forward. Maybe a previously unknown, fastidious Salemanca relative uncovers Mike's involvement in the Salemanca's woes and targets Stacey because of their relationship. Though overall I think the loop is pretty well closed.

The irony for Nacho is that his plan technically worked, he got Hector out of the way, only for Lalo to unwittingly give this personal lesson that Hector’s brutality to honest men like Nacho’s dad is heritable.
What a perverse and horrifying show of affection. Great scene.
Lalo giving Hector the bell was cooler than Captain America getting the hammer in Endgame.

But not better than Tuco snorting the infinity stones.
RIP Mark Margolis, such a gem of an actor. LITERALLY had more talent in ONE FINGER than most actors have in their whole bodies.
Probably one of the few scenes where we see lalo's true emotions. The subtle sigh and sadness before he puts on a smile is great acting!
That bell survived an arson, I wonder if it survived the explosion.

Better Call Saul is fan service done right
When Don Hector Salamanca became “Lord of the Dings”.
I love how so much seeds are planted, the show is centered around Saul but that doesn't mean every other character in Breaking bad has to be excluded.
Stil gotta hand it to Mark Margolis. He gave a magnificent portrayal of Hector Salamanca. HE played the part exquisitely in Better Call Saul, but his main-introduction in Breaking Bad where he didnt have a síngle line of tekst, but still managed to perform this rule, as a mute, heavily disabled old man, makes it all the more admirable! Small detail: Mark Margolis played together with Steven Bauer(Don Eladio) in the classic of Scarface. Margolis was Alfredo, Sosa's first henchman, who was shot in the head by Tony(Al Pacino) Montana in New York. Steven Bauer played Manolo Ribeiro, Tony's first henchman.
Even since BrBad , every time I see or hear the ring of that kind of bell I always think of BrBad & BCS. Come to think of it , That bell & the character of Hector, could make some badass commercials using a bell…
Rip mark magolis
This bell has a better backstory than Captain Marvel
Lalo in his grave getting that +50 assist score
A beautiful moment of family bonding.
RiIP Mark Margolis
Mark Margolis’s breathing chops deserves an Emmy!
When Lalo gave hector the bell, Gus's fate was then sealed

As you gradually realize with theSalamancas why the most wicked men live long. Because they slowly reap what they've sewn and witness losing all they hold dear. A fate worse than death. Then death comes to gather them brutally after they've seen their lives crumble before their very eyes. This is the reward of the wicked

The writing and foreshadowing scenes, are simply sublime from this show. Better Call Saul, was absolutely brilliant, and the character developments were perfectly written. Kudos to the directors and writers, and the actors all round. Lalo is undoubtedly my favourite character within the BCS/BB universe.
I don't want to sound like one of those people on the BB subreddit, but the way the sun flashes at 3:54 makes me think of an explosion, much like the one that Hector causes in BB. I'll bet that was intentional, since a flare like that would usually be considered as blocking the shot. Probably not intentional, still cool though

I think you’re right, plus every time the sun is shot next to a character it indicates a upcoming death (cause of the phrase you stand too much near by the sun and you get burn or something like that) an cause there is no death in that scene I think you are right that it indicates to gus s death in breaking bad (and can also symbolise the way it’s shot an explosion;))

If you listen carefully there's also a quiet sound like a very muffled explosion just afterwards.
lalo was really lucky that no one else in this new mexico nursing home seemed to know spanish
In the end, it as Lalo who had the last laugh on Gus.
R.I.P
You can tell how hurt Lalo is when he sees Tio
i think its interesting that Lalo uses the formal form of you (usted) to address his uncle. shows how Lalo still respects Hector even as he is now
It's like Anakin becomes to Darth Vader.
