Oh, this is the one. My favorite thing is watching the band watch her. Their enchantment turns into marvel, and it’s so cool to see ‘cause we’re all right there with them.

Her rendition of ASFY is dreamy. The best performance of that song was @ Divas Simply Singing. She looked and came out like a princess and fkd that song TO SLEEP. The APOLLO PERFORMANCE…❓⁉️😂🤣😂🤣❤️❤️❤️
Ironically just watched her explain her ability to “do the thing” on the Terrell show and your explanation is close to what she’s learned about it😀

Her voice is like a velvet blanket you can rap yourself in to warm and shield you from the cold.
As a worship leader, you’ve taught me so much about vocal control and using different parts of my voice. Vocal preservation is a must in gospel music, but not taught about! I honor you for all you do🤍

This! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 So true we rely on the ‘anointing’ and omit the training. We forget the excellency in studying how to sing and protect our voices correctly.

You had me at LALAH! ❤️ Her voice is a like a hug from the Lord! #Hammercy
I love how her voice is her own instrument. Beautiful.
It’s called polyphonic, overtone singing. There’s a variety of techniques you can use. Learning about overtones helps first. So you can begin to accentuate different pitches on a particular note. Then you you use your vowel shape, vocal folds and surroundings soft tissues, and musculature to “obstruct” the sound to make intentional pitch changes. You can hold the dominate and move the overtone or move the dominate and maintain the overtone. Here’s a video of a lady doing it beautifully. I will say incorporating in performance is an added skill on top of being able to produce the technique to make the sound. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qHdts8pwYJzNkdY.html

As a visual learner, I completely OVERSTOOD Everything you said about polyphonic singing. Well said❤️
She does this version of Forever for always for love and her tone and runs on the break down are astronomical Lala is the TONE Bank
Jaron-Tones!! Ok i see you!! I am honored!! Now let’s talk about Ms Layaah!! She is hands down the best artist in the world!! On the Terrell show she explains how she does this. Awesome thank you
"Let the mic do its job." I love this!!
This is out of this world. I have seen it a gazillion times and I’m always mesmerized. As out of this world Lalah’s polyphonic singing is, I saw Bobby McFerrin do it in a live version of the song “Drive” and it was unworldly. Here, Lalah sustains the notes. But Bobby actually moved the notes while using his body to play his own rhythm. I damn near jumped out of my skin!!! I’ve actually done it several times involuntarily if I sing when first wake up but like you said, I have no idea how I did it 😂. But watching Lalah being intentional with it is a pure gift and Bobby, whew, he is just on another level altogether 🙌🏽🔥
From what I’ve seen from other comments, she is hitting CHORDS, with her voice. Literally crying rn.
This woman’s gift!! Every time I see this performance I’m more amazed. 😍
This performance was so wild!! Lallah is such a unbelievable tactician & performer. So great!
She’s my favorite artist. I saw her in Dallas and my instant thought was she is an instrument. She was so present in the room. Her music has so much range and feeling. Just an amazing soul, talent and gift to this world. She asked people to please put their phones down so everyone could just experience those moments. Perfection⭐️
What I love about this is that she treats her voice as another instrument.
WOW!!! I’m in complete awe of her!! Her musicality is “out of this world”❤️❤️🎶🎵🎤🎙
She and Rochelle Farrell are always the first names to come out my mouth when the best female vocalist convo arises. Deborah Cox is another underrated singer. I find it interesting how most of the time people tend to think of those who start high and stay high as the best. Regardless of singers who have a wider range, esp the lower registers and richer tones. My ear prefers the later. But that's also my sweet spot when I sing :) so im probably biased.
Omg, I've been waiting for someone to do a video on this performance. She is soooooo amazing! Love this performance!!!
She has a voice like butter just like her dad.

That note where she sounds like a car horn or train horn reminds me of when Chante Moore started doing her whistle note & u can hear the air at the start.
