Yeah people just don't wanna admit that the GOAT debate is purely subjective. There's definitely a GOAT "tier" where these players have clearly reached. And from there it's purely up to what you personally value in a GOAT. Some people value scoring and Finals records so they go MJ. Some people value mentality and competitiveness so they go Kobe. People who pick Bron either value high IQ or all-around skillsets.

Let me tell you a little secret, almost everyone in the NBA uses the best designer drugs they can without being busted or causing too much damage to their body. The drugs just got better, the 90s was even more wild, testing was relaxed and everyone had their own stacks, they were doing some crazy shit. LeBron is naturally more athletic than everyone else. Its in the genetics. Of course, he had to put in work all his life to make his potential a reality.

Phil Jackson was a CBA coach before he became an assistant with the Bulls and took over the head spot. He was not a HOF coach when he coached Jordan. He became one with Jordan. Scottie Pippen was not a top 50 player all time when he was drafted. Hell he wasn't even a player that could get off the bench his first couple years. He developed into one alongside Jordan. Jordan is the only one who came into the league lauded and on fire from day one. And playing effectively on the same team that missed the playoffs before he arrived, he got them to the playoffs every year he was there. LeBron came into the league as the best player on the team and couldn't get them to the playoffs until year three. Yes, he took a team to the finals. But you can't say simultaneously that they were a team of scrubs and that he got them to the finals. It doesn't work that way. In fact, they had the 5th best defense in the league that year, were the 2nd seed in the east, and they lost in the finals in three of the four games by a margin of less than 10 points. In fact, they lost games 3 and 4 by 3 and 1 points respectively. They lost that first finals because San Antonio exposed LeBron's lack of a reliable perimeter jump shot and he shot in the 35% from the field and 20% from 3 in that finals alongside 69% from the FT line. It's the same playbook they used in 2013 when they almost beat the Heat again. And it's the playbook Dallas used against him in 2011. Let's stop this nonsense about LeBron dragging scrub teams to finals year after year. When you look at the personnel, what they did before AND after playing with LeBron, and how well ranked they were offensively and defensively every year, they were good teams. But it was typically LeBron who came up short. Same with the year they lead the league in wins, something like 66 games I believe, only to get bounced by Dwight Howard's Magic. But to hear it from LeBron lackies, that 66-win team was full of bums and scrubs. Sorry, you don't win 66 games with bums and scrubs. This "we need to attack everyone and everything because LeBron failed!" nonsense has got to stop.

I agree with the Phil comment. He “coached” Jordan and Shaq + Kobe. He refused to coach the Knicks. If he did, he’d be exposed. About LeBron’s Cavs… I can’t recall a teammate of his. Name players on that squad vs the spurs that were not scrubs. Let’s look at the second round in Cleveland. Before LeBron, irrelevant. LeBron shows up, finals, finals, finals. He leaves, irrelevant again. If you believe that he didn’t carry teams to the finals, that’s a crazy take given what I just presented.

So was Antawn Jamison and several others. LeBron went to the finals with good players. He had the 2nd best record in the east and the 5th best defense that year. His team was good enough to win it. Here's a hint as well. The only reason you know the names Steve Kerr, Toni Kukoc, John Paxon, BJ Armstrong, Luc Longley, Jud Beuchler, Horace Grant, and more is because they were on championship teams. They were all solid players, not superstars. Just like LeBron had in Cleveland in multiple runs. Finally, LeBron lost in 2011 when he had superstar talent next to him in Wade and Bosh. And THEY outplayed LeBron. They lost because LeBron had a second finals meltdown, just like in 2007.

I only know Kerr and Grant outside of Jordan Pippen Rodman. Just admit you’re a LeBron hater. I wouldn’t say LeBron is the goat, but I can see where people are coming from. He’s an amazing player and has been. I’ll end it with this. I despised Jordan and the bulls in the 90’s. This is some real BS. Jordan lost throughout the 80s, it was Pippen that helped him get to the finals, and not just Pippen, role players like Steve Kerr (most efficient shooter), and others, and then they went and got Rodman later on to help make sure they kept winning. Even when Jordan bailed on his team without notice, Pippen led the Bulls with an impressive win record for a team that lost its star player almost overnight and had no time to rebuild. Pippen proved while MJ was gone that he was intentionally playing in MJ's shadow so that the team could win, but that he was a star player as well, and simply choose to be a robin to MJ because he was a team player (something MJ would never do for Pippen and you know that.) Is MJ better than Pippen, obviously, but if we can call the heat a "big three" than the Bulls were 100% a big three with MJ, Pippen and Rodman. Same thing goes for LeBron, he was playing with bums when got drafted, and he took them to the finals where LeBron helped them put up a good fight against the Spurs superteam. The 2011 fuck up was the one time they actually lost a fight that was in their favor. The Heat superteam gave LeBron his Pippen in the form of DWade, they went back to back. Then LeBron came back to the Cavs and gave them their ring because he promised them one, and Kyrie was a big help, but without LeBron they would never even make the finals, proving once again that he just needs a single teammate or 2 he can trust. Then he went to the Lakers and won with AD, with some decent role players, primarily Rajon Rondo but also an old injured Dwight Howard (if it was Dwight Howard in his prime they would have gone back to back), a young and underdeveloped Kyle Kuzma (who they shouldn't have traded away but hindsight is always 20-20), and a young Alex Caruso who was starting to develop into the defensive threat he is now (this one actually pissed me off at that time as well because his potential was clear, letting him go when he was willing to take a bit of a pay cut to stay, that shows loyalty, and the Lakers management should not have been cheap when this team had just won them a championship.) The 90s Bulls were a great superteam. To act like the Cavs were ever as good as MJ's teammates is CRAZY.

How has Lebron done it right way when he rings hops to other teams and doesn’t respect the grind like Kobe did. He should have stayed his whole career as a cav during the bad times to grind hard to get to the top. But he complains when he doesn’t get the players he wants. I don’t like that. I love how good he is but that’s the only thing I don’t like. Be loyal to one team. He is one of the best ever but just my two cents that bother me. Kobe’s work ethic and grind is why he is my goat. It’s very inspiring if you’re trying to accomplish your goals in life. Things don’t come easy. The grind is real. Like Kevin Durant took what lebron did and went to the warriors to get away from the grind. Lebron started that and he copied and I dislike people running away from the grind. Yes MJ won when they got scottie and phil but what does that have to do with who is the best player of all time. The most effective player Imo if a player is the goat hes the goat even if he plays on a scrub team and never makes the playoffs. Or if a team is stacked with the top 5 best players of all time, 1 one those dudes is the goat, even though their numbers won't reflect it due to their team mates Goat is who is the most effective basektball player, not accolades, chips, etc. Numbers are useless without context, eras, rules of the game. MJ was a better shooter. Greatest midrange shooter of all time actually where lebron shoots 37% outside of 3 feet. Better defender, had russell westbrook god given hop of the screen energy, better 2 foot jumper, equal 1 foot, quicker, top speed indistinguishable, had more moves, better finisher. Averaged 30 11 and 9 when he played pg for 24 straight games. When lebron played kobe in his prime there wasn't much of a difference in efffectivness and MJ is a different breed athletically vs kobe

The East was weak is a red herring because Lebron was in the East like every other team; you telling me Lebron was better than a whole conference? Jordan got beat but HOF; they grace is given to Lebron getting swept by the Spurs with their team of HOF to include the Coach. My issue is for every players downfall it’s a knock; every one of Jordan’s down fall there happen to “circumstances” beyond his control. I wonder if this is a valid question; did Michael Jordan play his position better than Magic played his? Because if not, if you didn’t do your job better than I did mine how can you be better than me? What is Lebron’s job on the court? Rebound, assist, score, Run the team, his level of responsibility is heavier; and I think he did his job better than Jordan did his. Difference is that MJ, before Phil and Pippen, was the best player on the floor even when he lost in playoffs. Can't say same for King Con. In MJ's second season, one in which he missed most due to broken foot in 1986 playoffs vs a top 5 team all-time with greatest front-court ever assembled (Bird, McHale, Parish) he turned into Timothy McVeigh and torched that spot. After Game 2 a top 10 player all-time that compliments no one (Bird) said "That was God disguised as Jordan." Has a top 10 baller all-time ever granted Bron that type of reverence? Hell no! Total opposite. After 2010 playoffs vs Boston, Celtics players said they 'broke" Bron. Cavs owner agreed cause he said Bron quit in a multitude of games. Has MJ ever been accused of quitting in a playoff game? Hell no! Total opposite. Pistons center (Edwards) said what he admired most of MJ was his resilience of how he kept coming back after getting fouled extremely hard by the bad boys Flint, MI water dirty tactics. And as soon as MJ had a little help (his FIRST prime All-Star teammate) he started winning chips. He didn't need a multitude of All-Stars like Russell, Magic, Bird and Bron. MJ is the reason Phil became a coaching legend and Pippen became a top 75 baller. Larry, who's just a little bit more knowledgeable than you pertaining to hoops, wrote in his book Bird Watching “It was MJ that made Pippen a great player. Scottie played at his best alongside Jordan but that didn’t work vice versa because Pip without MJ wouldn't have been that lethal." Scottie without MJ would have been just another Derrick McKey.
