    Agree Blazin50s…..except Lively ain’t 7’4 300+lbs. with all due respect, Lively did nothing like Edey did in these past playoffs. Sure it might be a one off. He’s been in college for 4 years. With that comes more discipline, fine tuning his game, Lively did two years, then declared for the draft. Edey, again 4 years. Lively listed at 7’1, 230 out of college….even if now he weights 250. Edey’s got a good 50 lbs on him plus 3 inches and a longer reach. Lively will get better given the court time, which is out of every players hands except those named, LeBron, Steph, Jason, Luka, and a few others. Be interesting and fun to see what happens between now and June 26-27.

    @@lamarbenavides1934 that added weight is all the more reason we won’t see him shoot that 3. All that height and weight wtf you doing at the 3pt line. More to your point, he’s a back to the basket big who has never been a role player in his life at 7’4. Should get drafted for sure, but not the best fit on the Lakers right now.

    First on the "You need to be more than big" criticisms, I think you need to do the proper research on Edey, particularly at the Combine, where he both beat Sarr and Clingan in the agility drills as well as placing 5th in the three point shooting drills. Chris Keesee (NBA Scouting) @HoopKeesee DUDE. Unofficial times, but Edey just beat Sarr in the lane agility testing by a comfortable amount Ryan Dunn PF | Lane Agility: 10.99 | Shuttle Run: DNP | Three Quarter Sprint: 3.12 | Standing Vert: 32.0 | Max Vert: 38.5 Tyler Smith PF | Lane Agility: 10.74 | Shuttle Run: DNP | Three Quarter Sprint: 3.42 | Standing Vert: 32.0 | Max Vert: 38.0 Alexandre Sarr C | Lane Agility: 11.43 | Shuttle Run: 3.23 | Three Quarter Sprint: 3.44 | Standing Vert: 30.5 | Max Vert: 37.0 Kel'el Ware C | Lane Agility: 10.74 | Shuttle Run: DNP | Three Quarter Sprint: 3.23 | Standing Vert: 32.5 | Max Vert: 36.0 Zach Edey C | Lane Agility: 10.74 | Shuttle Run: DNP | Three Quarter Sprint: 3.51 | Standing Vert: 26.0 | Max Vert: 31.5 Donovan Clingan C | Lane Agility: 10.74 | Shuttle Run: DNP | Three Quarter Sprint: 3.54 | Standing Vert: 25.5 | Max Vert: 29.0 twitter.com/HoopKeesee/status/1790062786896076808 @FearTheBrown Edey has a faster lane agility time than Sarr, Missi, and of course Clingan. Clingan was downright slow. It's not a fluke either - Edey's time last year would be faster than those three as well. -- If you're going to talk about Edey when it comes to strengths & weaknesses or worries, you should be bringing up the most recent stuff, like things to look forward to or that he did at the combine that may quell those worries or show where he's really at or could be. I don't need Edey to be as dominant as he was in college for the Lakers. The fact he's unstoppable inside means that he pulls defensive attention away as you have to double him or he's going to score. This would leave, LeBron, AD, Reaves. DLO(if they retain him) wide open in response or off-ball. And off broken plays, you can give it to Edey for a post score and slows down the offense additionally for the benefit of our team. A dominant big man in the league actually makes the jobs of the shooters(who the league now rely on) far easier. Think about any dominant big man in history if they had a Steph Curry next to them how much easier the offense comes. Put Shaq in the paint, and have Curry and Klay on the perimeter as the guys that get left open because they have to double/triple team Shaq. A team benefits further from having a dominant inside presence big, because it opens up things on the wings and off ball. Jokic is proving this. As dominant bigs start coming back into the league, the rest of the NBA will figure it out eventually to. Get ahead of the curve instead of being 3-4 seasons behind it like usual.

    So your argument is to use how a player looked in the NBA draft combine doing some drills instead of how they looked throughout 4 years of college? Alrighty. Go back and watch some tape on how Edey looked sliding his feet and doing anything except drop coverage or camping in the paint defensively. Combine numbers become irrelevant real quick in the NBA. No worries about Edey’s offensive game for me, but if you’re worry free about him defensively because of some “combine drill times”, then I think you should re-think that.

  • @carrastealth

    @carrastealth

    Ай бұрын

    @@JSM24 I'm not worry free. I just don't see any weaknesses that I don't see in someone like Jokic. Being a dominant inside force that can't be stopped inside ultimately makes more of a difference than teams exploiting him in drop coverage. My argument is that he went to the combine and beat Sarr and Clingan in the agility drills and placed 5th in the three point shooting. Those are the thing that should provide positive aspects when looking at what he may be. I don't have zero worries, just not ones that terrify me. I also know he'd have Anthony Davis working with him on his defense AND being there to back him up.

What I am saying sure the coach can suck or fail. But God damn u OKAYed it. To me it's all on LeBron anyways. If he was so incompetent why did u even approve it in the first place? so sure u can try to escape the blame with manipulation playing the media but u ain't fooling me. There is a reason why seemingly we always have younger less proven coaches along side with LeBron so there is an easy target to blame. wink wink I know what u thinking wink wink. Why don't u hire a more established old geezer coach this time LeBron? Going for a young newbie coach like JJ again? Even have to bring out coach k to vouch for him? Lol don't get me wrong I like JJ but I am still gonna gotta call it out for what i see. And lastly I don't hate LeBron I appreciate his skill and chance for a title shot with him and we are on the same boat since being a lal fan but u can't take all the chances u want and have it your way without taking responsibility. And just to be fair I will trash talk Kobe for his lack of defense too. And I am not gonna getting into lebron's lack of defense and others calling him stats padding stuff. As long as we win he can pad all the stats he wants and bring all his family on the team if he wants. Bronny is definitely not ready yet for Lal if LeBron wants a title shot. He would be more of a burden than help on lebron's team. There is no time for prep and developing Young players. We need roasters that can go to work immediately. I am certain even LeBron would agree on this but if LeBron can WILL his way to a champ I am willing to give him EVERYTHING he wants as well.

You know the funny thing is that although D’lo had complete no show games on offense in the Denver series, he still had the best plus/minus of all Lakers players playing over 30 minutes despite shooting horribly in 3/5 games. That should tell you that he was actually contributing in other ways, like ball movement and defense. D’lo’s 1v1 defense isn’t great, but his team defense has always been good. People don’t know why he’s been considered a defensive liability for most of his career, and just assume he’s bad at every aspect of defense. D’lo was a liability for most of his career, because his 1v1 defense was trash, but his team defense was good. He’s usually in the right spots to help and recover, and makes good rotations. He’s been consistently high in steals among point guards for years, because he reads the passing lanes, because his ability to see the floor on offense translates to seeing what the opposing point guard sees, allowing him to get steals despite his below average athleticism. Anyways, people are going to want to throw the role players under the bus, because that’s what happens for LBJ’s teams. LBJ is never held accountable for wins and losses. Some great leader he is…

    @@JSM24 I agree with you that we shouldn’t set those expectations on a rookie, but being a DPOY doesn’t mean you can shut down all forms of offense. It just means that your overall defensive impact is the best in the league, but you still have weaknesses. We wouldn’t expect Gobert to lock up guards in space. Although we would expect him to handle his 1v1 match-ups with other big men quite well, he got his DPOY more so due to his help defense, which is why most big men get the award. There aren’t enough elite offensive centers to lock up in order to build a DPOY resume. When it comes to perimeter players getting DPOY, there is plenty of opportunity to build a resume for locking up the elite perimeter scorers. I would add, that just like AD is an elite defender, he can’t handle Jokic in a 1v1, because Jokic is simply too heavy for AD. AD actually becomes a defensive liability when he has to guard Jokic, because now our best defender needs a double team to help him contain Jokic. So, yeah, there are many elite defenders out there that elite at different forms of defense.

    If we’re drafting #17 that player needs to be NBA ready this season. Personally I don’t think Edey is a good fit. Why would we want a back to the basket big, there is one ball and we’ve got AD. He’s also someone who’s clearly had teams built around him his entire life so he camps in the paint, we don’t have shooting like that.

    There is no reasonable trade we can make for a star that makes us favorite in west. We give up all our depth and all future picks to please my favorite player Lebron but he is 40 guys. We need to draft and develop our own young star. People underestimate the impact Zach edey could have on this team.

    @@michaelalleyne812 I didn’t say trade all our future draft capital. Edey is 7’4 and never had to play a role in his life. On top of that he’s a back to the basket Center who camps the paint and that’s supposed to work next to AD? Let alone Lebron. We should draft a ready made player or make a smaller trade to get solid help.

    All the sports reporters gave the lakers an A+ last offseason for the moves we made. We never had a fully healthy team and front office thought Darvin was not the right coach. Pelinka will do what he wants, but makes sense to keep draft picks with new and improved coach staff, keep most of the team together and see how things go until draft deadline.

    @@michaelalleyne812 I agree, I also think Pelinka did well last off season still. This roster makes sense but there’s roles to be improved having seen a season of certain players. I think it’s a shame we’ll probably lose Prince, he was one of the only pickups that actually played consistently well.
