Lake Powell's Water Release, Explained

Ойын-сауық

Thanks to PVcase for sponsoring this video- pvcase.com/Arkive
Lake Mead is one of the most important reservoirs in the United States. Located along the Colorado river, this reservoir supports the 7 basin states located in the American southwest. While the reservoir's water levels have fallen to record low levels, this year has marked a different story. Lake Mead's water levels have began increasing, due to a variety of complex factors.
But all of this raises serious questions regarding the future of this reservoir and its potential impacts throughout the region. Thank you for watching, and consider subsiding if you enjoyed the video.

California needs to create some massive reservoirs instead of letting over 80% of its water run off into the ocean. Like 95% of the water that flowed into the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta at the beginning of this year ended up in the Pacific. They've non forever that water can become a massive issue, I mean, that's why they built Lake Mead. When you build cities and millions of homes and businesses in the desert you know from the beginning that at some point that lack of water will be an issue. A state as big as California should have had a system in place to catch and store a lot more of the river water that's flowing into the ocean every day. As for Lake Mead, the Government should have started dumping more Colorado River water into it years ago and it wouldn't be so low now.

If CA-GOV pays for 'huge reservoirs' they won't be able to pay those exuberant salaries and pensions to politicians and public employees.

California does have a system in place. Several in fact. And one of them is is called lake Mead. It's literally the only reason lake Mead exists.

@@johnmiller7682 I hate to break your brain, but Lake Mead IS NOT in California. It's located in two other States, Nevada, and Arizona. So as I said, California needs to create some reservoirs, as in their own state, that belongs to them and them only. What do you think Californians would do if things went to crap one day and those states shut that water supply back?? Ohh, I know I know, you think something like that will never happen, don't you? lmao!

@@calvinh.8882 I hate to break it to you, but the Hoover dam and lake Mead were specifically created for Californias use. That's why the accords that the states have give California precedence over any other state. And no Arizona and Nevada do not control that water supply. It is controlled by the federal government. Also, California has over 1300 reservoirs. California is also the number one food supplier in the U.S. Do you like food? Before you comment, you should probably look some of this up. And talk about building in a desert. What do you think most of Nevada and Arizona are?

@@johnmiller7682 I see ignorance flows within you. I never said any one state controls the water supply at this time, or which state gets what AT THIS time! I clearly stated the facts and the facts are Lake Mead is not in California, so California does NOT own it! That is a fact! And just because things are working out right now does not mean things will always be the same in the future! And I don't care how many reservoirs Cali' has at this time, because as it stands right now California keeps putting more and more water regulations in place due to the fact that there isn't enough water! Also Cali' only ranks #1 in agriculture due to the fact that a lot of crops that a lot of people in the U.S. don't need are grown there, You know, like Almonds • Artichokes • Clingstone Peaches • Dried Plums • Figs • Olives • Persimmons • Pomegranates • Raisins • Seed, Ladino Clover • Sweet Rice • Walnuts. See, A LOT of things people do not need. The foods that are needed most are produced in states like Iowa, Texas, Nebraska, Illinois, and others. And I know Nevada and Arizona are also built in the desert. Lake Mead is in both of them.

Yes, the comparison at the 3:10 mark is stunning and concerning... However, 2023 was blessed with a 54-ft rise from last year's level, buying the 7 states time to hammer out long-term restrictions. No mention of such detail. Also, WHERE THE FUCK is the content regarding the goddamn video TITLE?!?!

Put floating solar on lake mead. It would reduce evaporation, and make extra power during droughts.

On the movie "Chinatown" with Jack Nicholson already depicts what it was a reality back then. They are pouring water into the desert!!! Duuuhhh!!! Keep your grass green and beautiful while irrigating half of the water on the pavement and down the drain... that is just dumb beyond understanding from the authorities and the population... But they will learn... soon.

So the old formula was working great, with some issues now and then not avoidable by regulations, drought. So lets abandon what has worked and start to experiment with flow rates and see how bad we can make it while effecting all the States businesses and Agriculture's that rely on this water discharge rate. Who in the world put these people in charge, how do they have this much POWER and why haven't' they been removed form a position of authority to control these water flow rates? What is the end game on agriculture in these states? Some real investigations into these peoples beliefs and agenda's and associations to those who put them in charge needs to be done. Also policies needs to be put in place to prevent this from happening again. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
