Lake District Walks | Ullswater Way Part 2 Pooley Bridge to Glenridding, Gowbarrow Fell & Aira Force
The Ullswater Way is, depending on which options you take, a 20 - 22 mile long-distance walking route around Ullswater, a lake towards the north east of the English Lake District. The route can be done as one (extremely) long walk or, as Neil does here (and in Part One), in various parts.
In this film, Neil takes the Steamer from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge, before walking back along the western coast of the Lake, taking in Gowbarrow Fell, the only Wainwright on the Ullswater Way. Part One (Glenridding to Pooley Bridge) can be found here: • Lake District Walks | ...

The fabulous Ullswater Steamers (www.ullswater-steamers.co.uk/) serve Pooley Bridge, Howtown, Glenridding and Aira Force, and provide convenient shortcuts to and from various legs of the walk.

The Ullswater Way was the product of a collaboration between The Lake District National Park Authority, the National Trust, Eden District Council, and Ullswater Steamers, and the path was officially inaugurated on April 25, 2016, with broadcaster and film-maker Eric Robson performing the opening honours.
While the concept of encircling the lake had been contemplated for quite some time, it was the 2015 Cumbria floods, which caused widespread devastation (including washing away the previous stone bridge at Pooley Bridge), that provided the impetus for the project's realisation.

The Friends of the Ullswater Way have more details, including downloadable maps and guides, on their website - www.ullswaterheritage.org/ullswater-way - and are also responsible for the artworks that make up the Heritage Trail along the route.

Thank you - hope you enjoy it! There are several ways of breaking the Ullswater Way into shorter routes, should you wish (or weather dictate!), but it's well worth the effort. Best wishes
Every bit as stunning as the first part Neil, brilliant! 😀🥾⛰

Enjoyed that Neil, thanks. I've discussed it with the wife and we both agreed that it'd make a good trip with an overnight camp in Pooley Bridge. I also enjoy the cut of your jib. 😂 Cheers, Paul

Another great video. It was nice to see what lies beyond the road often travelled between Pooley Bridge and Glenridding.

Thanks, Darren. The great thing with the Ullswater Way is that you can break it down into shorter sections, and use the steamer to get back! All the best.
Enjoyed part 2.How many gates did you have to go through on this leg?
