Lake Amistad, TX Camping Areas - EP 47

Lake Amistad, TX Camping Areas - EP 47
My pup Katie & myself visit Del Rio, TX and Lake Amistad. Our goal is to scout out the multiple camp grounds near the lake, the Pecos River Boat Ramp and Box Canyon Boat Ramp for future adventures. The weather could not have been more perfect and the area more scenic. Camp grounds were all nice, clean, maintained, easily accessible and user friendly for paying site fee's. ALL campgrounds sites are on a "first come" basis. I will definitely be back to camp and enjoy the area and lake. A permit is required for boating on the lake and can be purchased at Amistad Recreation Visitor Center for a small fee. Pecos River is a must visit if in the area IMO. Katie loved her time on this trip, behaved well and is becoming quite the adventurous pup.

I was born in Del Rio in 1965. We moved to Austin when I was one month old. I still have a lot of family there. I've been going to Lake Amistad all my life. Dad remembers when they filled it. It's good to see some of the places such Governor's Landing again in your video. I married and for the 20 years that lasted we always went to Diablo East. I appreciate your video because I have never explored much of the area. I do remember on the Mexican side a large statue rain God or something and the most dangerous kids playground I've ever seen. It had a hand pulled small ferris wheel! I'm thinking about heading back down soon to camp, fish and hike. I need to see what's available and your video provided that for me. Tks for documenting and for posting. I watched a video of Devils River a while ago. About an hour north of Del Rio. It was some of the most beautiful water that I've ever seen. Looking forward it the trip. Good looking dog. Lucky guy to have you take him along.

Thanks, your comment is pretty much why I made this video. I traveled to Lake Amistad to scout for myself campgrounds and boat ramp water levels. I could not find anything on the web or youtube. I wanted to get eye’s on the area before I actually camped. It was also good opportunity to document and share with others. After all of this I eventually camped elsewhere. Lol. I launched my boat at Box Canyon boat ramp and camped up the Pecos River for 2 nights. I have a 2 part video of that trip on my channel if you wanna see more. Pecos River Camping I & II. For me, this was an epic adventure. AND , Yes, Katie loves this.

@@ChesapeakeBayProductions I'm on Lake Austin below Lake Travis. Pace Bend Park on Ttavis is Good. Leaky Tx on the frio. Long ago Camp Beans on the Guadelupe was good but my fav is Canyon of the Eagles on Lake Buchanan is nice. There's primitive. Hook ups and cabins. Those are cool Where I live rents cabins on Lake Austin. Nature Preserve and large hills across cold wate with natural springs. Good bluegill and Channel cats. River oaks farm lakeside. I'm caretaker of the property. Its paradise. I'm looking forward to a trip to Devils River

Thanks Bud. My style ( if you want to call a style ) is start with video 1 taken on a trip, then continue in sequence thru to the last video, LOL. Kinda like a timeline. But yea, camping in Del Rio. I suggest a cooler month, lol.

You must live only about a half-hour away from me. My Maxey loves watching Katie. I keep telling him how well she obeys, especially when it come to eating. Max lacks self-control, even though I have tried to teach it to him.

I use bagged popcorn to help with Katie and Moose on training - haha. cheap, they love it and I can indulge in my own lack-of-self-control during training and eat. win win.

Fantastic! My wife and I wanted to camp there in a couple of weeks but wanted to see some previews. You and Katy provided us that. Thanks! Do the campsites have water, electricity and toilets? Sounds doubtful at the price.

Thanks for commenting, Governors Landing & San Pedro have nice park built shelter toilets. None of the sites I visited in video had electricity or water that I saw. Have fun on your trip.
