In a perfect world we could have TTT every Tuesday, but that implies a filming crew or you becoming more an steamer and less a ceramist. Keep the good work and make this videos whenever you can. They are awesome and we'll be here ready for them ❤

Always exciting when a new TTT comes out!! Also, I can confirm that I would happily watch a video of you just doing regular slip casting and talking about what you’re doing, even if it seems very routine to you since you do it day in and day out. You could even do a livestream-chill slipcasting to study to.

I so much enjoy each and every one of your videos. I can't exactly put my finger on why they are some of my absolute favorites but I think it's a combination of a few things. Your attention to detail and care in your process which translates to your work, and the feeling that you're a person who puts a lot of energy out for the benefit of others. It's a good reminder / inspiration for me that in my own (much more modest) home studio I should perhaps spend a bit of time thinking about how I can make it better. Maybe get rid of some of the bins of unused tools that are collecting dust first, then I can start tackling making some cute signs :).

Another amazing TTT Henrik! I’m excited to hear your going to dig into electric Kilns on another episode. Would love to hear and see how you maintain them, check all the associated electrical measurements to confirm setups and how and when to change your elements, relays, thermocouple etc. I need to do an overhaul this summer and could use some further insight. Thanks for all you do to keep us educated and inspired 😀💯🙌

For the bit try an o flute bit with 1 cutting edge - designed for cutting plastic. Helps the material separate nicely without melting back into position.

seconding this, you want either an o-flute, straight flute plunge bit, or a compression bit, alternatively do a clean up pass with a down cut bit, since you're using an up cut bit, all the chips are traveling upward, leaving a fuzzier edge at the top. Or use any angle of V bit to chamfer your edges. It all really comes down to finish desired and aesthetics, no real one answer.

  • @vantikistudio

Good question! I try to get a glaze looking good somewhere in the range of one to 3 coats - I’ll do tests of each new glaze in the studio to see how it will look. 2-3 coats seems to get the commercial glazes I use to match the manufacturer’s test sample tiles. For me pushing past 3 coats gets pricey as 1) it uses a lot of glaze, and 2) it means even more of my time in the booth. That being said, I am now regretting not adding a “4” to the sign 😄
