Every reef tank is a lagoon. Good point. I call them tidal pools in comparison for space. Great videos, thanks.

Well, you have a point here. Although tidal pools have a strong current and areas that are sprayed, but not underwater all the time and the respective species living in this habitat. As for a lagoon, there is almost no current and spray water areas. And the shallow water is warmer than the sea.

@@blackseaandothers Regardless of the obvious environmental differences, Please remember that these aquariums are tiny compared to the available space they come from. No matter the theme we push these animals beyond their evolutionary adaptations and requirements. Their diet and water chemistry, lunar cycles and temperate environment is rarely emulated and sustained to the animals full life potential.

i agree, as a snorkeller who works at an aquarium store, i would consider all our tanks lagoon tanks since they are so shallow compared to any ocean or lagoon in nature. unless they were modified to simulate deep water, with chiller, low light, etc...

Sounds like you have an AWESOME job!! I love being around and interacting with animal's. I'll be going on a Whale Watching trip out of San Diego the weekend of April 10th.. I'm so excited!! Hope to see some Humpback and Blue Whales.. 😊😊

@@ryanmoeller3308 ya i dig it. sounds like a fun trip, never seen those whales but came pretty close to some orcas on a watch trip in vancouver. also sea of cortez is beautiful & supposed to be their breeding grounds but travel is so dicey right now

Great video! I love shallow reef/lagoon style reefs just for being able to have that look from the surface of the water that we can't in regular tanks! Can't wait or my tank shallow reef grow and then update for one even longer!!! ;)

I’ve got a deep blue 80 lagoon w/ about 75 different corals and 5 clams in it. I have a bicolor angel and a snowflake eel and a purple and yellow tang. Love your channel bro

You are correct !

You and your tanks are really excellent ........it's a Shallow tank or Lagoon tank ........... The only thing I am not happy that so much color combination of Corals .....which spoils the natural beauty ....just my personal opinion .......... Either Rock only Marine or Reef tank or Planted Tank or Normal tank..........for whatever fish if it looks artificial then it's not piece of nature...........hope you never mind....... thanks

I agree with your lagoon view but if you factor in the sun vs our lighting maybe that factors in. Of course a “” lagoon aquarium in the hobby is anything shallower then 18 inches here in the us

Beautiful video!! For me lagoon Is the part inside the barrier, with large space with sand and many islands of corals, generally SPS and soft corals. It Is my target to reproduce in my acquarium!!!ps. Sorry for my english😁

Lagoon tank is more about proportion than size in my opinion. Has a higher width to height ratio than traditional tanks, just like a lagoon compared to the ocean.

I join in on this opinion. Besides that IMO lagoons and mangrove forests host a higher percentage of plants, anemones, sponges and ascidians than reefs in the open and deeper sea. A lagoon tank should contain these species, too, although they are difficult to keep. Also lagoons usually don't have crystal clear water. They are rich in nutrients and sediments and have little current. And lagoon tanks should be lit with white sunlight rather than purple and blue...

A true lagoon consists of brackish water. Or a mixture of oceanic water and freshwater. It would be amazing to be able to incorporate both aquarium hobby styles together in one tank !!!

I think a lagoon aquarium will be amazing😍 and especially if is a shallow big cube aquarium

Bro....I think you might have given me my inspiration for my tank upgrade I am planning! I may plumb in a display lagoon style refugium complete with some mangroves as a way to improve my water stability, clean the water and provide tons of pods and larva for my corals.

Think a lagoon is a shallow reef tank (less than 45cm high) - should be sand I think and aquascape should be low and sort of surround the corals... think it's about the species too - like there are more lagoon / inner reef style species

Technically there are many lagoons in "Europe", you just have to include the overseas territory of Spain, Portugal, France, the Netherlands and the UK.
