Parker930 well they must have credentials because many of them do it for a living and you can buy vocal lessons from them so, they sound very professional and offer constructive criticism and explain how the singer can make that sound (in terms of anatomy) I think Sam Johnson is a very credible vocal coach on KZread and he did a video on lady gaga.

Parker930 I suppose that’s true but I find a lot of them do criticise (for example Ariana Grande) who has a massive following. I agree some of them are a bit shouty but I like it because it’s the one of the ways she conveys more emotion and each of her performances are different she doesn’t stick to a format. I see feel on her face that for a lot of these she’s very at ease and in control of her voice (I’m sure she has a vocal coach anyway) but thanks for the civilised conversation 👍

@Parker930 Lady Gaga has a incredible voice, for me one of the best voice in the decade.. And I'm a classical violinist.. Maybe you're an opera singer, but the fact is that opera singing and pop singing is very different, and can't be compared :) you naturally have a voice made for opera or for pop, or for rock etc ... yes a pop singer can not sing opera but an opera singer can't sing pop either.. But Lady Gaga can easily sing a lot of different genres: rock, pop, country, musical comedy and even pop. I don't know if you listened to her album with Tony Benett but believe me a lot of pop singers today are unable to sing like her! More personally I love the timbre of Lady Gaga, her vibrato, her voice power, besides I also love her songs, because yes in addition to being a singer she composes, dances, she is also an actress; she is a performer she is a complete artist and a very incredible singer. Also she is a very kind person with a gold heart, that's also why we love her so much. She's not only a singer, she's more than that! I love her sooo much and I repeat, I am a classical musician. I never liked some pop singers because they had an average technique but she, just, wow .. Love Lady Gaga❤ A Little Monster for ever

I'm the same, if I hear one of her hits I am left stone cold but when I hear her belting out a few notes I am blown away. I was in a position (I call lucky) when I saw her in A Star is Born that I had basically ignored her because I don't like any of her pop songs so I had no idea how well she can sing. This made the movie more enjoyable for me because I was "discovering" her as the movie unfolded just like all the characters and audience in the movie were doing.

well she might use auto-tune (or live pitch correction) and she might playback now and then for several reasons.. but she is a good singer.. no doubt about that.. her personality is a bit too much as a Diva (Madonna, Cher).. or wanna be's like Christina Aguilera or Ariana Grande.. they just "can't".. nor should they.. compare. But the guy on the taxi.. could be a great singer.. he's also talented... and there are millions of kids out there.. better than all of this established artists.. that never will make it, because the industry is to tied-up... so.. While amazing singers today may be working on construction sites... there you got Justin Biebers on a multi-million contract living the dream!.. NOW.. that's sad!

John Smith I've seen her live 4 times and I can promise that she doesn't lipsync. I'm not a super gaga fan, but she puts up a great show. One of the concerts I attended was in the end of her tour and her voice cracked several times due to exhustion but it didn't matter cause she gave 110% and sang her guts out. I have a bachelors degree in music production and audio engineering and I can tell emidietly if an artist lipsyncs or using auto tuning, Lady Gaga isn't if it's not intended to pitch her voice. Though I'm more of a person that likes iconic artist like David Bowie, Prince, Queen etc and the best moment in my life were when I got to see David Bowie live. May he rest in peace, but Gaga is a performer into her bones and no one can take that away from her.

She is a musician, she is a composer, she is a singer. Respect!

This woman, is not someone who just accidentally got lucky and stumbled onto fame. well, luck always plays a part in anyones career...but, she didnt just win a contest and got pushed to the front line to become a famous musician. she played piano at the age of 4, studied music everyday, she rode the train from Manhattan to New Jersey, everyday. she pushed and pushed because she had a strong passion to be successful. Her struggling mother encouraged her to join music and theater. she founded a couple bands in her teenage years. she can actually play instruments, unlike some singers who are on American Idol (and similiar shows). as like the group, One Direction. Only one of the guys can play an instrument, the guitar. Why is playing an instrument so important? it means they can most likely read music/notes/write and count beats, which means they take part in writing their own music and songs. not always but most of the time. most singers who cannot play an instrument just buy songs from someone else. Gaga, writes her own songs. Lady Gaga is a person who has true talent and her fame is well deserved.

There's no denying her talent as a vocalist. I wasn't a fan of her early "gimmick" phase of her career for which she became famous. But she has shown more sides of herself since then and just singing and performing a variety of genres of music without all the gimmicks has allowed people to see just how talented she really is.

Have you seen the stuff online from before she became Lady Gaga? Personally I think her 'shock persona' takes away from her talent. Many of the other performers need the costumes and the personality to get them through to where they are but this woman has such pure talent that all the shtick is a distraction that takes away from the magnitude of her full talent.

So many ppl have voices like this where we both come from (Siciliy), but none get discovered like she did. My cousins sing like this while cooking over a stove. Crazy. The women have very deep rustic speaking voices- something common no one talks about. So singing is natural for most. They satisfy themselves doing local voice talent shows. I am glad she has been able to create and do what she wants in this business. She 100% deserves it. She is genuinely talented and meant to do this. It's a very difficult lifestyle. Why most Sicilian women prefer family life instead of getting out there.

She sounds so much better without autotune. This girl can sing anything. I think her style (or many differing styles) make some people think she's more style than substance, but with Gaga, you get both in abundance. Wow!

You do realize most rock singers can't sing worth a shit today, right? And only a handful could in the 70s and 80s, not to mention even fewer in the 90s. Every hard rock band covers the singer's weak voice with bringing up the mix on the instruments, adding wetness to the vocals and quadrupling the lead track to give it depth. When the voice gets blown the clarity of pitch drops first and then it becomes pure head voice. That's when it's time to retire. Gaga is world class.

She can sing completely clean, she belts, she growls, she can mix chest and head voice seamlessly, she can sing opera, has extreme control over the sound of her voice, and has vocal stamina to last a 2-hour show with vocal tiredness rarely showing, and all with perfect pitch for all but a couple times in a show. The Greatest Show on Earth Live at Tampere, the last song of a 2-hour show, demonstrates how well she can control all aspects of her voice. A lot of rock metal bands have amazingly talented singers: David Draiman of Disturbed (Just listen to his Sound of Silence cover) Simone Simons of Epica, Sharon den Adel of Within Tenptation, Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil, etc. Now, Lady Gaga is a tremendously talented singer and I say that as I’ve seen her live. And I know a lot of pop singers can sing too. Demi Lovato performing Father live literally made me cry. Don’t dis hard rock and metal singers just because some are bad... you’d be surprised about how many are actually superb.

And, as it turns out, it worked and, millions and, millions of people around the world, just happen to agree with a lot of what she says and, does. I'm one of them. When your own philosophies and, accomplishments rival what she's got done in her short life so far, then perhaps others will listen to and, identify with you. I've been a fan ever since I heard her sing the acoustic version of "Paparazzi". She is amazing. My admiration grew even more after seeing her in "A Star is Born".

I didn't used to like her until A Star Was Born and then it was over. The I realized, she is one of the few artists in the industry that truly have a gift. It is also very rare to find somebody with her gifts. I was totally floored when I saw her perform with Tony Bennett. If she can do that, she can do anything.

agreed! I was never a fan until I was dragged to a concert of hers...her live, stripped down with just her and a piano completely changed my mind.

Gaga is one of few artists, Sia included, who actually has really good music and can really sing live or in studio without auto-tune. Honestly Gaga has a way of really getting into people's hearts and minds and souls and knows how to make you feel good. She doesn't need auto-tune. That is only for people like Britney Spears who can't sing a lick live without having the microphone auto-tuned itself. Gaga and Sia, I feel, are both made for this generation. They have the voice that Generation Z needs.

Totally agree Marc. There is no denying she is an exceptional artist. I used to say Lady who...then i heard her voice without all the B/S and she had me. I grew up with some beautiful voices thanks to my mother who was part of the theatre scene.

@Max Powell can't help myself but all modern pop music has the same robotic sound in my opinion. It's really strange it even sounds like all pop music uses the same pitch / frequency. Maybe it's because they use all the same singing technique. Maybe it's the music that often overshadows the singer too hard, Idk. Maybe someone can explain to me what that annoying thing is I always hear. Yeah complete different genres but when I listen to metal I never hear that sound...maybe sometimes David Drainman (Disturbed sometimes comes across with this sound) maybe, or Opera.

JMmmn Liberal Madonna is too old to have had autotune. Pretty recent... If she use it for the last 10 years , she was decades without it.

Adore her!!!!! So easily so beautifully making the gorgeous sound of her divine voice!!!

She is an iconic person, smart and inspirational. I'm super impressed by her accomplishments and has inspired me to be a better person. I heart you Lady Gaga!

Amy Winehouse was completely better at Jazz......And had a much better voice technically. That's kind of why it makes her spiral so sad. Gaga can take on this persona of fame and detach to still find herself, Amy Winehouse could not.

I disagree. Like Beyonce , their appeal is the "whole show". To the experienced ear they are monotone. Now I am only using her as an exemplary example, but ADELE is a true vocalist. All Adele has to do is stand and open her pipes as they say to enthrall you. To captivate you. She has never needed to twerk her behind nor come out of an egg to hold you in her hand at full attention.
