Ladies and gentlemen... it's CHRIS ANDERSON!

Спорт

Chris 'Spanner' Anderson is a well-known face around the British Superbike paddock, most recently as Crew Chief to Tarran Mackenzie both in BSB and World Supersport but his experience stretches back way beyond that. From starting out with Roger Bennett, then Reve Racing before World Supersport beckoned then back to BSB as well as the Roads with Hutchy. It's been a colourful career for Chris, but his next challenge is another he's really looking forward to as Crew Chief for Danny Kent in the newly-formed McAMS Yamaha by Mar-Train Racing squad for '24. Enjoy!

The man is a legend, had the pleasure of being his Truckie at Mcams from 2017 to 2019. Taught me a lot.

Fantastic, really enjoyed that. Hope this won't be the last interview with those behind the scenes in the garage as I'm certain there are a lot more great interviews out there. You're really turning up some top interviews, this has overtaken the competition to become my top pod in recent months.

Andrew that means the world to us, thank you so much. We’ve a couple of behind the scenes to come over the next few weeks - two Crew Chiefs with Grand Prix experience and one mechanic that’s done it all, pretty much. All three are still actively working- two still in GP, the Crew Chief in question has a BIG job on in ‘24, and one in BSB so hopefully plenty to keep you entertained over the coming months 🤞🏼

Another good vlog. well done. Been waiting for this one. you see these people in the paddock you know who they are but don't speak to them because they're doing a job.

Thanks so much, Richard. Usually the riders are the least busy across the weekend- it’s the Crew Chief and mechanics that work the longest hours but know the riders better than they know themselves. I’m so glad you enjoyed the show, we’ve a couple more Crew Chiefs to come, fingers crossed the team are happy for one of them to do it because he is working at the highest level and with someone special in ‘24… 👀

Another great one, very interesting stuff. James Witham does a Scottish bike tour with Simmo,Moodie, Brian Morrison and Ian McPherson. He could be the man to put you in touch. Four episodes there, imagine the shortbread.

He does and I think they’re all going skiing next week, too! Sadly Jim’s declined the podcast, prefers to stay under the radar but we’re with Simmo all day Tuesday 🙌🏼

I enjoy listening to the engineers, crew more than the riders. Great insight. As said before, it’d be great to get a crew chief / mechanic, in with the rider also. 👍🏻

When riders talk about “We” and “the package”, it’s legends like this that contribute so much to the success. I hope Chris / Spanner is able to reflect on his massive input during race weekends / seasons, rather than waiting until he’s hung up his 12” adjustable… And for someone who doesn’t like interacting with people, he absolutely smashed that interview. Thanks for the insight. 💪🏼👍🏼👏🏼

Kind words, thank you David 🙂 Over the years I find most of the crew chief/mechanics I speak to enjoy the moment then like a rider they’re straight on to the next challenge so it’s nice to help them take stock of their achievements so far. My pleasure, really glad you enjoyed it 🙂

Another absolutely bloody awesome interview and look inside the sport just interesting to hear from folks like Chris talking about teams and riders and the work involved .Brilliant questions Dave well done the to you and the team and I have followed Danny for a good few years from early MOTO3 championship days and I do feel he had some bad luck along the way especially in Moto2 like a lot of guys in this sport ,I can't wait to see him with Chris and the Martrain team this season it's gonna be fab .👌👍

Thank you so much, CM! The chat was borne over a few San Miguels in the hotel bar the Saturday of Brands final round 😁 He’s a great fella and like you, I’m really looking forward to seeing Chris, Danny and the team in full swing this year 🙏🏼

This was your best work I’m sure, for the reasons you mentioned when talking about social media. The riders are still watching what they say, getting the likes of spanner in where he gives just the right amount of insight into things, absolutely superb. Maybe it’s the guys at layer 2 you need to do more with? Loved this one

Thank you, Phill 😁 we’ve more level 2 chats planned over the coming weeks, one at MotoGP level if the team are ok with it (which they should be) and one that’s done Moto3/WorldSS/TT/BSB hopefully in Feb 🤞🏼

Great work again, Dave. I'm fortunate enough to have watched bike racing from the mid 70's up to current date, so a lot of your recent guests have struck a chord and bought back a lot of really good memories for me. Keep doing what you're doing, as I'm sure there are a lot of people like me, that really appreciate the hard work that goes into putting these together.

Shaun, thank you so much- it’s EXACTLY why we do them the way we do. It’s not about me, it’s the guests who make it - I’m no different to you, I love the stories and the memories they bring and find myself in a fortunate position that I can share them for everyone to enjoy. Thank you again, it really means a lot 🙏🏼

Comes across, at least in this video as a straight talker and an holistic team thinker, rather than abrupt by reputation suggested by perhaps less knowledgable and technically astute paddock gossips?

  • @OffTrack_Podcast

Oh he can be abrupt, there’s no question and Chris’ll happily admit that, but he’s there to do a job and nothing gets in the way of that job. This is the real Chris Anderson 🙂
