Labral tear of shoulder on ABER images

Inferior labral tears may be difficult to see with the shoulder in the neutral position. With the arm abducted and externally rotated (ABER position), the inferior and anterior joint capsule is stretched and labral tears may become separated from the glenoid and easier to visualize on post arthrogram MRI scans.

Also can a torn labrum effect your shoulder blade?

So you might miss a slap tear if you don’t use the contrast?

Says he's using a small needle..........but doesn't say what he plans to inject (??) or whether it is a treatment or further diagnostic modality.

i would also love to know this. I just had an MRI on my shoulder for this same injury - I was given an injection of fluro Dye into the shoulder - pre MRI - so I can only assume this is what he is talking about perhaps?

Local anesthesia will be administered into the tissue surrounding the joint and into the joint, followed by contrast for a fluoroscopy of the joint.

I think he’s referring to a cortisone shot to reduce or eliminate the pain. Often times, especially in older people, surgery isn’t the best treatment option.

@@lsss4096You don't get a steroid shot right before an MRI. He's talking about anaesthesia and/or contrast dye.
