Amen the only reason i had to walk away, i miss it everyday. Helping those with no voice and yet they always find a way to be sweet and grateful.. ❤️🥹 Not to mention the patients that remember you and love to see you!

I’m changing careers at 42 😬 and I’m really thinking of becoming a vet tech since I’m being forced to change careers at this age I figure I might as well do something that rewards me in ways that money can’t. Thanks for offering us this look at a day in the life of a career that helps both animals and their human companions

OMGGGG I LOVEEE THIS. I want to be a vet and work with animals. I'm not all the way through the video yet but I can say your work is a lot especially since you were alone but it seems so fun to me just to be surrounded by animals. keep up the good work!

great video! I am a vet tech at a high volume clinic and I just graduated with my associates for vet tech. i could not imagine doing online vet tech classes because in this field there are so many hands on skills that need to be learned and developed, like venipuncture and catheters, cystocentesis, radiography on live moving animals and restraint/handling, blood smears ...I am just so thankful I went to a hands on program, just for people to keep in mind either that or try and get a position in the field while you do online classes so you can still get your experience, but it is a very rewarding (although not financially rewarding) career. everyday is different and it's challenging and exciting. 😻

This video has helped me a lot. I have been trying to decide if becoming a vet tech is for me. You seem to love it and work very hard. I used to be a pet care specialist at a pet store and loved it, but wanted to do something more. I think a vet tech is just the thing!

This made my day! I am looking to go back to school for vet tech training. I have been working as a medical assistant and previously nursing assistant in clinics and hospitals. I do a lot of the same things but for humans- vitals, prep for procedures, vaccines, blood draws, feeding, care, and LOTS of bodily fluids! I decided I would rather do what I do with animals, which is what I really love.

Jenna Salas veterinarians and vet techs are 2 different things. they are basically the same thing but vet techs work under veterinarians

Awwww I love furr babies I'm thinking about doing this

I’m working up to be a vet and I spend my time at my local shelter. At the moment I work only with cats and kittens but I want to expand it and help give other animals their medications. I also foster ill kittens or cats and the one I’m fostering at the moment has ringworm that is thankfully inactive though he requires oral medications. He doesn’t take it like a champ and even though he’s being held by his scruff he still finds ways to squish and squirm.

This is very good.

Man I remember watching this video when I first applied for college, not even started my Gen Eds... now im in the program finally!

It's a lot of hard work, but it is SO rewarding! You should consider volunteering at your local animal shelter now to get a little experience being with animals who aren't your own! Get yourself familiar with different breeds and just caring for those who are not yours! Best of luck to you!

It’s not much options for me around where I live. Either community college that’s open once a year, randomly pick 30-32 people or Carrington College. I kinda see myself in Carrington College already because it’s so close to where I live and I went to check on both them. Money is not an issue for me but really want to get good educations. I just need some help and good advices.

I would say to look into Penn Foster, that's where I study, it's all online and you can do the coursework from anywhere.

I really enjoyed the video, and want to say thank you for posting. Where did you complete your program? I am taking mine through Penn Foster, but I'm only about half done with the first semester, so I have a good while before I find myself in your shoes.

Tina Hebner crap pay ! Often no benefits! No pension! No 401k ! You will get bit and scratched at times ! You will have to deal with idiot owners ! One good thing is helping animals. But it’s not enough and it won’t pay the bills . Find another line of work

Where is your clinic? You came up on a search for Orlando vets. Long shot but thought I'd ask.

It seems like with all the cleaning there’s barely time to get anything else done. How many hours a day do you spend cleaning?

Your videos are so inspiring! But if I may ask, can you give me an intake on a vet tech’s schedule throughout the week? Do you get any days off? How many hours do you work in a day? Hello, thank you for the comment! Your schedule will depend on where you work, and how long you work somewhere. Usually, like most jobs you get two days off together, sometimes this can be different. When I worked at this hospital Monday's I would only go in to assist with surgery for a few hours and help with clean up. I was off Tuesdays/Sundays and I think also Wednesdays. But worked Thursday afternoon to evening and Friday afternoon to evenings. And then all day Saturday. It was like as needed, and if no one dropped off their pets for surgery Monday's usually I wouldn't have to come in!

From what time do you start and end your shifts?

My dog swallowed a piece of a rag a couple of days ago but luckily puked it out shes been walking a little tense lately and trembles for a second when i pet her as if she’s scared to be touched. Today i took her to the dog park and she was crying when she was trying to poo. She has diarrhea but she’s eating fine and at times act perfectly fine. Im hesitant to take her to the vet because im a financially independent teenager and cant afford it especially if its not serious. Anything i can do at home to help her or any advice?
