I love the way she was talking to Rocket as he was throwing up. She turned a sickening moment into an encouraging moment. Saying “Good boy!” and other encouraging words to let him know that this is a great thing because he’s letting out all the bad things. I don’t know, I found it so sweet. As someone who has a fear in vomiting and I just cry every time I do, I would want someone like her, that will turn a nightmare into a blessing.

I think there's a certain percentage of people in the world who have the same problem you do, myself included. It's not so much a 'fear' of vomiting, it's more like the involuntary muscles that are responsible for vomiting aren't as strong or something so it's a much more intensely negative experience overall.

I didn't know bread dough was such a concern for dogs. While I don't have dogs, we're a kitty rescue house. I am going to suspect it's the same way for cats. We have one boy who's obsessed with human food. The next time I make bread, I will be extra careful to make sure he doesn't get it.

Dogs are curious animals who like to literally put everything in their mouth, especially puppies. My pup once tried to catch a toad and started foaming from the mouth, we acted fast and vigorously rinsed her mouth to remove the poison. Thank God we found her just in time before a major disaster. Scared the life out of us. Stayed with us for almost 13 years with many great memories. Now that she's no more, miss her a lot😭😭😭

Years ago my 4 month old puppy ate a 3/4 of a 1lb solid chocolate easter bunny that my grandfather had next to his nightstand. My little guy liked to nap with my grandfather & he thought the chocolate was far enough away but when he fell asleep my dog went to town. He threw up a trail of chocolate & I found him curled up in my laundry pile looking exhausted. He was only 3lbs but he was absolutely fine even though he ate almost as much as he weighed. Throughout his life he was known to steal chocolate or any other food whenever he could & he lived almost 17 years. It’s hard with dogs who steal food or eat things they aren’t supposed to because you can’t watch them every single second.

OH MY GOSH! Glad the dog ended up OK. That reminds me of a very dumb aunt and uncle who always has dogs but did mistake after mistake that made their dogs sick and a couple died. For example, yeah my aunt gave a puppy some rising bread dough, which ended with lots of pain. They were so ignorant, the poor dog did not make it (It was in the early '70s) Also they gave a dog of theirs some meat seasoned with garlic, and a few years after, to another dog, they gave chocolate ice cream too. I love your show because it educated pet owners.

Think next time before making bread Although most of the alcohol in the dough is lost during the baking process, some is evidently retained in the matrix of the bread. The actual amount is very low in the context of the alcohol content of alcoholic beverages, however.

She said the first part as a joke, at a point where it was clear things were looking okay, and admitted that she said the latter when he'd first eaten the dough and was only feeling a little sick, before the bloating and other issues started happening. Yes, this is how some pet owners react in those situations: unless the animal starts clearly showing signs of being in real distress, they look at something like that and say "Welp, you did that to yourself, dingus." Because sometimes, it's not that dangerous, and the pet is just uncomfortable for a while...like when they got into a bin of kibble and gorged before the owner got them away from it. Sometimes, though, it turns out more dangerous, thus the owner realizing that Rocket's distress was worsening, and bringing him to the vet. As to the former, ever heard the saying "Sometimes if you don't laugh, you cry"? Sometimes, if you're that distressed, or in this case, trying to make sure to put on a brave face for a couple of kiddos, you lean on humor to keep you from breaking down.

The dog doesn’t need a muzzle or to be locked in a kennel during the day. Dough needs to be put up higher and he needs toys with a purpose like a Kong that he has to work to get the treat out. That plus longer walks and a tidier house should help him stop eating things he shouldn’t.

No muzzle or kennel. However excercising him more might be smart. Border Collies are known to get destructive when bored and he’s quite young so full of energy. My parents have two border collies and it’s a challenge to keep one occupied, let alone two. Border collies are great companions, but people often underestimate the amount of excercise and attention they need…

@@IngePinge- And probably, he should have something that's giving him challenges or that is playing to his instincts as a herding dog. Border collies are often incredibly clever, and have a herding drive that often needs to be given an outlet in order to keep them from mischief. You can walk a herding dog all day, and it won't stop their clever little brain from telling them to push and shove all of these moving things into a neat little group, or to find other outlets for their need for stimulation.

With a dog that eats everything she sounds like she just lets the dogs do whatever like eat a whole pan of breadsticks she doesn't watch and she almost killed her dog when i cook i keep the dogs out of the kitchen and i trip over them

A food motivated dog will eat anything they can get their paws on. Dogs will eat unusual and unappetizing things just because they enjoy eating things. This is why you should take necessary precautions to prevent a food motivated dog from having access to human food they could possibly steal and consume large amounts of.

Well, climb on my head or on your head. Rocket eating those things, whose fault is it? Duuuh. You would not eat dough, would you? So why allow the dog to do so?This is no smiling or laughing matter. Please care much more for Rocket. Thank you so much.

Totally agree no dog brings it on himself, they are pretty much as vulnerable as children and therfor care and safety around the home is essential, in this case the owner knew of his particular behaviours and smiling at such a serious situation, will say no more.

This is mostly a lack of training and possibly lack of proper enrichment, especially for that breed, as a dog hater myself yeah it’s valid to not like dogs, but a lot of time behavior like this is rare if there properly trained and have the right amount of enrichment.

I don’t think this woman has the brains, self awareness and responsible decision making for yet another dog. If this one makes it to adulthood it will be a miracle. She mentioned they already lost another dog- I shudder to think of how, and how many bear misses with injury or death that one had before it’s luck ran out with them. Some people just aren’t meant to have dogs.
