I never had a Lazy boy last over 5 years. The one i have now and looking for a new one lasted 4 years. The spring in the back broke after 3 years. I rigged it to last because they charge 20 bucks for shipping the new spring back to the store i bought it from. Then i have to drive over and pick it up. Now the arm came loose from the side and just flops there. If the chair is only going to last a few years get a cheaper one like im going to do after 3 lazyboy chairs. Lazy boy chairs use to be good years ago. The way they are stapled together now makes them not last as long.

The foam in my very expensive La-z-boy chair has not held up well. In fact, the fabric is like new, but the foam underneath has disintegrated in so many crucial areas. You feel the wood in my chair arms. The foam is gone. My chair is still in great condition, but La-z-boy will not reupholster my chair because they do not provide that service. I need to find a private company to fix what La-z-boy will not.

I just fixed a chair that didn't sit comfortable as it did in store. My feet didn't rest on the floor. The rocker springs were not installed in the neutral position at the factory using the middle holes, but instead were mounted in an end hole. That minor change completely changed the feel and comfort of the chair.

I have a house full of Lay-Z-Boy but my last purchase, a 1,000 dollar leather recliner had a cheap strandboard foot rest that the screws ripped out of and now you cannot put screws back into those holes. Used to have a rapids model lazyboy and it was great, had it for years, everyone fought over it. Replaced it with a maverick suite and the recliners are crap to be honest. As soon as you put up the footrest and lean back the seat base tilts back too much so that even though I have the recline adjusters tightened as much as they will go the back keeps sinking which transfers more weight back and causes the seat to tilt even more so that you end up with the backrest parallel to the floor and your feet as high or higher than your head. Its as if the rocker springs are in the wrong place or are not strong enough. The first time I used it before tightening the backrest I put my hands behind my head , leant back and tipped over backwards, now the tension is wound up that tight that you really have to work to get backrest back up. I have also noticed that The maverick model is gone from Australian lazyboy website which suggests maybe I am not the only one to hate it

I've bought 4...at estate sales, LB's hold up real well. They can be decades old, and if a 110 lb grandma owned it, it will last another decade or more. But sit in it, make sure it's the right depth for you. If you have a short(er) thigh, you'll want a seat depth that mostly matches that dimension. Yep, they are worth the money, especially if you get it lightly used. Good product.

I'm finally retiring a La-Z-Boy that is twenty-two years old, which I find quite impressive. It's been passed down from my dad to me, been in three houses, and actively used by three generations of family. It still works flawlessly, but the foam eventually broke down and shifted, which is expected given the abuse it's had from kids and age. It's being replaced by a lesser brand, that I expect to last a few years and be disposable. It was 1/2 the cost of a La-Z-Boy, so it will be interesting to see how it holds up. I may be back to a La-Z-Boy in a few years.

For an RV we think the Pinnacle is a great choice. It's usually small enough to fit through the RV doors and still big enough for comfort. Another thing to consider is the Wall Away upgrade. The Wall Away option will give you the full range of the recliner and because of the frame, you can easily bolt the recliner to the floor and still recline.

They may cost the same but that La-Z-Boy shown is entirely too small for a large man like myself. To get a La-Z-Boy comfortable enough for a fat man it would cost way over $1,000. One with a power footrest/headrest would be even more.

La-z-boy is junk now. I bought two recliners, and a couch 6 years ago. The arms of both chairs separated from the frame. They are cheaply made OSB particle board that is simply stapled to the frame. No glue, no screws, no quality at all. Lazy boy wanted to charge $400 to inspect it for warranty. This was 1.5 years in. That price is if I brought it in, if they picked it up, it was another $300. I fixed it myself by glueing and sliding the BS staples back in, then screwing corner blocks in place, like it should have been made in the first place. 3 months later, the other went. Now the OSB is actually coming apart. If you are thinking of buying laz-e-boy, save your money and by cheap Chinese junk; it will last at least as long, and cost waaay less

So, if you recline in a competitor's chair - The footrest must be activated. This matches with what Dustin is demonstrating. 👍

The LzB recliner I attempted to purchase was garbage, dead on arrival. The fit and finish was horrible. Misaligned main components, scuffed wood. It isn’t your dad or grandfather's La-Z-Boy. The quality and craftsmanship and component choice of materials have all drastically declined. They know this too. Their sales contract is written in a manner that a return is virtually impossible and they will attempt to ‘correct' the piece but never allow a return. Mine came back post ‘correction' worse than originally manufactured. I had to exercise my credit card’s buyer's protection to terminate the contract. It’s not worth the risk, hassle, headache. Funny thing is the showroom at which I made the purchase had heavily discounted floor piece that had the same issue as mine. It was a customer rejection now being sold as a distressed piece. I should have taken that as a sign. Just don’t do it, your piece of mind and hard earned money is more important. Every corner you turn large companies are trying to swindle money by offering low quality high priced products, avoid the known bad actors like LzB.

My La-Z-Boy is the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased. 3 months after purchasing the chair started creaking and squeeking. This isn't covered. The wonderful "structural integrity" has framing, weak and creaking, until it snapped one day when I was leaning my head against the bolster on the wingback. I weight 200lbs but it was just my head leaning against the wingback when it snapped. I love rocking in the chair when watching TV but since it was about a year old the squeaking has been so loud I have to be still or recline because the squeaking annoys everyone else in the room. I replaced my Ashley recliner with a La-Z-Boy after it was 14 years old and have never been more unhappy with an overpriced product that doesn't meet it claims to quality, or support advertised by La-Z-Boy. In my humble opinion, you don't just walk away from this brand, you run, like a bear, mountain lion, or a mob boss is chasing you.

Had Lazyboys for decaded. Quality the last 2 times is just gone. OSB stapled together with little to no glue. I've replaced many rocker springs, that's a normal wear item, but these frames just fall apart now. I just unskinned and rebuilt a back where boards came apart. Each OSB board was held to another piece of OSB by 2 staples, no glue or ridges on fasteners found. I rebuilt using screws and glue. Have a pair of Neals and one had the rocker block detach. The dowels backed completely out since again they used zero glue. That meant the full weight was on 3 #8 screws that broke off. Had to inskin a lot of bottom to fix. Replaced dowels with bolts which will never shear off and also act as a clamp. No reason they dont ship this way except to guarantee it fails and needs an overpriced tech to come out, if the chair survives. I flipped the other Neal and found its dowels were also backibg out and would soon fail to. I tapped back in place, but it is on my todo list to fix right. All of above are expensive models, and my be the last we buy. Shocked how poor quality has gotten.

I have a La-Z-Boy that is approximately twenty years old. My wife's La-Z-Boy chair is about ten years old. After two repairs on my wife's chair, I'll never recommend that anyone ever purchase a La-Z-Boy chair again. Broken springs in the bottom and back cushions on the first repair cost us over $150 in labor to have it fixed at the six year mark. Since then La-Z-Boy has dropped their repair capability. They use jobbers or independent repair people to the turn of $150 per hour. I just repaired the foot rest mechanism for he second repair on my own because of this. The warranty is a joke. You have to order the parts through them by calling their phone number. I was on hold each time for more than an hour. The first time was to get a parts diagram and the second time to order the parts. They tell you to give your number when prompted and they will call you back. I was on hold for more than twenty minutes before I got that prompt and then had to go on the road for an emergency when they called me back two hours later. I had to start the process all over again. They emailed me the parts breakdown when I got through and I made up the list of what I needed. Then I had to pay a handling fee of $15 and something through my credit card to get the parts sent. The catch is that there might have been $15 worth or parts. I have two other recliners made by other manufacturers and never had any issues. Next time the La-Z-Boy fails it will go to the garbage dump.

La-Z-Boy upholsters recliners with their most popular covers in bulk so this lowers the price for these fabrics. When you purchase one of the higher priced fabrics, these chairs have to be custom ordered and manufactured specifically for you. This will drive the cost of the recliner up, however your chair will be exactly what you want and one-of-a-kind.

I have been enjoying it until I sat down today leaning forward to hand my son the tv remote and heard a noise noticing movement under my knees. I leaned the chair up to have a look. I found the under knee cross board has separated (glued joint) and the frame it sits on is separating. The people I bought it from told the same story you told here! I looked up your video to drop this comment… 6 recliners in 5 years! This was the first Lazy boy and like the others it is junk! I tried Ashley’s 600lb person chair and some others… ALL JUNK! I work for my money and would like to sit down comfortably after a hard day not needing more stress because of another garbage recliner!!! This thing is made from soft wood and OSB! My paps Lazy boy was probably 30 years old! He was 5,10” 350lb. I’m 6’2” 230lb. This thing is like everything else made today… JUNK! Thats what I get for listening to a used car salesman gone recliner salesman!

Hi Rachun, I work for SCS in The UK who are the biggest La-Z-Boy suppliers over this side of The Atlantic. The reason for this is because they were the first and the best. Simular to how people refer to every hot tub as a Jacuzzi. Many people don't realise that La-Z-Boy is a brand name and unfortunately as a result, there are many cases where people have purchased from competitors, had a poor experience and placed blame in the wrong place. I hope this helps :) P.S. my favourite model is the Tamla
