La Royale - Anthem of the Action Française

This isn't the one that I was thinking of posting after a month of inactivity, but It's just that I realized that most of the videos I had recently uploaded were remakes and other language versions of fascist songs and I wanted to do something different.
With nothing else to mention, here's the history of the movement:
Action Française ("French Action") is a political movement of royalist, nationalist, anti-parliamentary and anti-liberal ideology; founded by Henri Vaugeois and Maurice Pujo in 1899, as a response to the intervention of leftist intellectuals in the "Dreyfus Affair" (A historical case where the Jewish-Alsatian Captain, Alfred Dreyfus, was sentenced for treason crimes, but that many leftists claimed that it was an "Anti-Semitic plot").
Shortly after, Charles Maurras joined the movement, later becoming its main ideologist; under the leadership of Maurras, the Action Française became Counterrevolutionary (Objection the legacy of the French Revolution), Anti-Democratic, Anti-Semitic, but above all, it adopted a combination of Nationalism (Which until the Dreyfus Case was associated with Republicanism) with Monarchism and Catholicism.
By 1914, Action Françaisese had become the most important nationalist movement in France; its influence was maintained throughout the entire French Third Republic, having strong repercussions in Italy, Spain and Eastern Europe.
By World War II, Maurras actively supported the Vichy Government and Marshal Philippe Pétain, however, the members of the movement were divided between those who showed some support for Pétain but not for the German occupiers, the members who joined the French Resistance or supported Charles de Gaulle and those who decided to actively participate in favor of the Third Reich.
After the end of the Vichy Government, Maurras was sentenced to life imprisonment and the movement's newspaper was banned; however, the organization continues to exist today and, although it no longer has the same strength as before, its ideas are still quite influential.

@@picklickwick it gave you the first french republic which was led by a shit ton of masons. Then Napoleon came to power and abolished it. No, the French Revolution was NOT right wing. It was led by atheist, anti clerical, anti monarchical masonic ideals. The only thing I see somewhat right wing is the rise of Napoleon after the collapse of the republic and how it changed france

Question for any French speakers. In this song and many other old French songs I hear the letter r being pronounced as a single rolled r often, however when hearing French spoken today they always use the back of the mouth r typically associated with French Is it just a change in the language over time?

Yes, nowadays nobody speaks like that. I think it disappeared gradually in the first decades of the 20th century.

picklickwick You are very mistaken, my friend. Thousands of clergymen perished at the hands of revolutionaries. The republic is what lead to today’s France. What is right wing about “liberty, brotherhood and egaliterianism? The church is VERY clear on so-called egalitarian thought, which thinks a peasant is suited for ruling and a king is suited for labor. Are you American by any chance?
