    I have to say Bekowsky was my favorite partner. Rusty is lazy and really just wants to close a case without getting down to what really happened and Roy is crooked. Bekowsky has that same drive Cole has and is some what of a nice guy but not a push over.

    I doubt they never planned on doing burglary. I would have liked so, but I doubt it. There simpley is no place for the bulglary desk in the game. Traffic introduces Cole to the detective scene. Homecide makes his career. Vice is a turning point for the character arc and Arson is the final ending act. There would've been nothing for the bulglary desk to add to the game, other than more missions. If you ask me the burglary desk was added in the first place because going from traffic straight to homecide would've been too big of a promotion.

    Not at all a coincidence that this mission is the last one before Phelps gets caught in his affair and everything crashes down around him. You can see that Phelps has developed an overinflated view of himself and an air of importance over his colleagues. The way he casually pushes through Bekowsky and Galloway at 10:20 while barking orders at them as they are having a conversation is a perfect example. Phelps has let his reputation go to his head. This is exactly the kind of behavior that led to his downfall during the war. His need to be a high-prestige high-achiever and his big ego once he gets there. No surprise that the fall came after this stage once again. It's Cole's mistakes repeating themselves because he hasn't learned from them.

    My favorite dialogue in the game comes after this when Phelps says he “sees no reason why they’d be better or worse” than him as a Vice cop and Roy calls him out for saying “better.” Phelps can’t even disguise the subtle implication that he thinks he’s better than them. Despite being an asshole Roy accurately calls out Phelps on a lot of those moments where Phelps comes off holier than thou (like when he taunted Phelps for criticizing the doctor for giving into temptation & cheating). It’s great writing for their characters.

    Agree. This case is much more movie-like than any other case. It's longer and more focused on being a story than an investigation. As a matter of fact, it is very stricktly based on a movie called "Naked city". I would say it's a video game adaption of the movie, just because of how accurately it follows the movie. More accurately than many movie adaptations of books.

    The first thing that comes out of Roy's mouth is an insult. This is because Colmyer shut Earle up before he could have the last word. Roy's ego was hurt (especially when it was in front of his subordinate/partner), and his first instinct after being assigned to the case was a) redeem the image he made for Phelps, or b) release that frustration at someone else - Phelps being a perfect target. The fact that the insult was as shallow as a jab at someone's appearance, I would assume that it was an act of mild desperation, knowing that Roy is very capable of producing infinitely wittier comments than "you look like my science teacher." This gives insight to his superiority complex, and his NEED to be an ass, even when nobody really cares whether or not Roy's image is tainted. Phelps obviously didn't care, but Roy felt the need to make up for what happened in the briefing. This could also hint at a possible vulnerable side of Roy. What happened during the briefing was so insignificant, yet he took it so personally.

    Vietnamese At 22:05 ? Yeah, to me that entire segment was bizarre... Roy is usually the type who would limit his arrogance to witty responses with subordinates. The only time I remember him being that hostile was when he was interacting with black or Hispanic people and Elsa. Either he has some really bad history with the coroner, or he just resents having to work this case.

  • @holly9096

    @holly9096

    6 жыл бұрын

    Liviu Vigu The final scene where Colmyer suggests that Roy buy the department drinks was just a result of personal dislike for each other, I think. Roy was just being passive aggressive because they used to be partners before Colmyer was promoted. "Roy, I think you should buy your brother officers a drink." "Do you now? That's very generous of you, _Lieutenant_ ." The emphasis on the word "Lieutenant" could indicate that that's where the word "Partner" should be instead. That whole scene was one of many displays of Roy's disregard for authority. Knowing that he's charismatic, I think Roy _would have_ bought drinks for the department if he felt like it. *But in this case he wouldn't, simply because someone told him to* (especially when it was Colmyer). Roy is the prime example of the concept of "ambition"; he would willingly put others down just for the sake of getting on top. So I agree with you. He has an obvious superiority complex and is extremely greedy. He's a douchebag LOL

  • @ViguLiviu

    In my opinion he uses wealth only to achieve something, he can only do it if he gets something out of it. For example when he goes to give Cole a drink after the "fallen idol" case, he makes a show of power, while making sure that if he ever needs someone like him he can use him. An interesting detail about the case is that he is giving the drink for killing the small army, not for solving the case; he knew that the case wasn't hard to solve the problem was how many things need to be exposed and how many people will have either to accept or be forced to accept that things will come to the light, but not the one's that are directly useful to him. The biggest problem a guy like him can have is letting his minions have free will, he knows that his bosses have it, but they can still be expected to act with limitations, when in the other case Colmyer asks him to put 50$ for the case he goes nuts about it (to have a better reference it is about 550$ now), of course in normal procedure it wouldn't happen like that, but C. knows that Roy has the money so he will pay, the fact that he uses his past relation in a manipulative way to him only to annoy him is the thing that pisses him off the most. R. biggest problem about Phelps is that he acts with free will he does things that he doesn't want, but in the end he solves the case. Now whether he could chose another escape goat than Cole he would i don't know for sure, but certainly he could have got a lot more good use out of him, his only job would be to keep him out of the "Suburban Redevelopment Fund" (witch was maybe to much for him so he took him out).
