I couldn’t play this because I couldn’t read the expressions and you couldn’t go back to older lines of enquiry, iirc … so maybe their facial tech was good, but the game was also low res 720p and 30frames and that display matter too much.

Still loved it, you just had to learn the games expressions vs real life. If that makes sense. Much earlier second time around, too bad the mystery is gone

Kinda crazy that this technology isn't used in any new game. Despite being super outdated, L.A. Noire still has better facial expressions than any game. I don't know how they rendered this but it looks like real people with a filter on, it doesn't look rendered and uncanny like every single game with realistic graphics. This game was so beyond its time.

It actually *is* real people with a filter on. They used facial capture. You can recognize actors from this game in live action productions. I once saw Roy's actor in an episode of Parks and Rec and it took me a moment to figure out why I had such an instant seething hatred for the guy.
