I was the Bob of my family for a long time. Put the drugs and bottle down, and picked up my Bible. Never looked back since. RIP Ritchie

Love that moment in this scene when it suddenly hits Bob that the reason Ritchie is so beloved by the family and everyone around him is not his musical talent or fame or money or anything like that. It's because he's a stand up guy who loves unconditionally. Bob has never been loved that way before and it changes him on the spot. As someone who has fought and reconciled with a brother, this scene always brings me to tears. Beautifully written and acted.

"Yeah cabron. I'm still here. And I'm still your brother." Gets me every time. Esai Morales was so good in this movie. People say it all the time, but I really think he warranted an Oscar nom as a Best Supporting Actor. All the envy and conflict he has, it's not put on. He makes it so believable.

YES! Absolutely an outstanding Oscar worthy performance as Bob by Esai Morales! I’m glad I’m not the only one who saw and felt this very emotional scene from a Classic 1980’s movie! Sadly, the playing field was not even in the 80’s, a little better now but ultimately by passed very talented actors just because of the color of their skin! 🥺👎

I'm a true believer that the soul knows that your time on earth is ending. Hence calling out of the ordinary or doing things out the ordinary. Example. My mom's brother made a video contributing to all his siblings how he missed being around them. A compilation of photos and and touching music. Even planned a get together. He died a week later.

Dang the scene has me in tears right now. I lost my little brother May 21st will be three years ago. He was almost 34 years old when he died. And you know I would give anything in the world to be able to have one last conversation with my brother because I miss him so much and his kids miss him too. So this scene really tugs at my heartstrings because I know that even though me and him had our differences and had our arguments and all that he was still my brother.

Bob behaved the way he did and was rebellious because he felt unloved when he was growing up. Richie's father wasn't Bob's father and therefore he didn't love him and Bob knew it. His father figure was the curandero he visited in Mexico. Dispite whatever Bob and Richie went through they were still and they were close no matter what. That's because they were brothers and blood is thicker than water.

This part in reality isn't factual Ritchie called Bob when he was in Milwaukee on the first night of the tour, In reality Ritchie wanted his Mom to join him not Bob i read that much in his autobiography as Ritchie was going to end the tour after the Moorehead date but unfortunately for him it wasn't to be due to the tragic Airplane crash there in Clear Lake Iowa on February 3rd 1959.

Nope. Ritchie was going to end it in Chicago by February 17th. Buddy was going to hang it up March 2nd once it reached Green Bay, planned on hiring a Lawyer to get Petty to release his greedy hands from Buddy's catalouge, planned on taking Maria and their incoming child back home to Lubbock from NYC, and JP was going to leave the Tour once it hit St. Paul by February 9th. He had plans to launch a Long Distance Radio Countdown Promotion on his Radio station and planned on spending the next month and a half anticipating the birth of his baby boy. Teetsie was due by April. The Winter Dance Party Tour didn't reach Milwaukee until February 8th, 5 days after the Tragedy. And FYI, Ritchie and Bob last spoke to each other on the phone on January 31st, while the Tour was in Ann Arbor,MI. The reason why Ritchie was going home February 17th, is because Bob and him were going to fly home together. Bob planned on Driving Cross Country to Chicago on February 11th six days before the Tour was to reach there. Bob was going to book a Motel Room and wait for Ritchie. Ritchie was due back in L.A. by February 20th, he had some studio mixing to do on his upcoming Debut LP and was due to promote his appearance in the Film "Go Johnny,Go". All 3 men became fast friends during the tour. JP encouraged Ritchie to go back and finish HS, promising him that he would help promote his upcoming Debut Album on his Radio Station if he agreed to earn his Diploma. Buddy planned on recording and writing Music with Ritchie and planned on guest starring on Big Bopper's Radio show.

@@Tornado1994 that’s sad to read. Buddy and the big bopper wanted to spend time with their family waiting for their newborns to arrive. Unfortunately, Maria had a miscarriage after hearing about buddy. And the big boppers son was born but spent his whole life trying to know who his father was. At least he got closer seeing his father at his exhumation.

i watched this movie on netflix last night and teared up in this scene. i think because of his talisman being gone and his fear of flying, ritchie knew something was going to happen and he wasn’t gonna make it :(

after the big fight between them you can tell Bob was touched that Ritchie didn't hold what happen between them against him. Ritchie was willing to forgive and forget as he said dispite it all they are still brothers. all families have arguements and fights be it vocal or physical.. but bottom line your still family.
