Lou Diamond Phillips is actually honorary mexican just like Jack Black and Will Ferrell. Elizabeth Pena was also in Jacob's Ladder one of my fav of all time, great supporting actress.

Ms. Pena was a terrific actress for sure. Lou Diamond Phillips was great in La Bamba.

I was on the fence with this one until you said "Elizabeth Pena", now I'm all in. Saw her in the Criterion version of "Lone Star" recently and she was fantastic---sad that we lost her at such a young age. Nice review.

Love the movie but I’ve become hesitant to buy a Criterion blu ray when the movie gets a 4k scan because they inevitably have a 4k disc release.

I know. You never know when an upgrade will happen. Given that this recently came out from Criterion on blu-ray I think a 4K upgrade from them soon is unlikely but you never know.
