Thank you for sharing the link to this from your other video. I have been considering using this component. But I could not decide whether to use this or a full 12v to 5v transformer. I don’t know enough about electronics! This is a great video. Very clear. I am using a 1A 240v to 12V transformer. This is to power some 12v LESs. Then I could use this voltage regulator to change it from 12v to 5v for the 5v part of the circuit?

Hey, this is totally a shot in the dark but I saw your video on a tutorial about the adafruit soundboard. I'm trying to make a project where it plays a sound automatically once it receives voltage from my 12v output from my car. (I will use a 12v to 5v converter). I just want to save myself the trouble of having to manually press each button so ideally once the 12v turns on after I turn the ignition on the soundboard will automatically play a sound. Do you have an idea on how to do this?

With the soundboard, if you switch a pin to high and don't switch it to low, that sound will play repeatedly. I wonder if you could use a relay to set the pin on start up. Otherwise, use an Arduino Trinket. Connect an output pin on the trinket to the button pin on the soundboard. When the trinket powers up, it can send the HIGH signal, the set the pin to LOW again. I am saying Trinket because it's tiny. But an ATTiny85 would do the trick, too.

Are those capacitors (near the voltage regulator) between the 5V out and the Arduino? If so, why are they there?

I’ve gotten in the habit of adding capacitors to “smooth out” the power going out to components. Means they don’t get hit full blast at the start and they “run out” slower.

I have made 5 volts circuit by using L7805CT TO-3 Package, by 12v input and rectified with bride diode and filter with 470uF 50V cap. But the output is showing 15.56 volts at last points. Why is this happening?

Based on this datasheet for the L7805CT you maybe bought a voltage regulator that does output 15V. "Output voltages of 5; 5.2; 6; 8; 8.5; 9; 10; 12; 15; 18; 24V" datasheet.octopart.com/L7805CT-STMicroelectronics-datasheet-7281256.pdf

The 7815 has a maximum output of 15.75V it appears.

Use the tab for ground when checking for functionality…

I made such a circuit for a 5v bluetooth module, but there is humming noise. Please solve my friend..

The bluetooth module is unrelated to this video but a google search led me to this StackExchange post electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/537768/how-to-reduce-audio-noise-from-bluetooth-module

That is 5 v 0.5 am.... Are you have do 5.5 v 2 am....

Does it get hot ?

Yeah it certainly can get hot if you're running a full current draw on it over a length of time. You can attach a heat sink to it to help alleviate that.

Ive always struggled with this. NEVER AGAIN !

What voltage will it work up to . I need to convert 45v to 5v , I know 7805 is only rated to 35v have you tried to run on higher voltage?
