The L12-R series of small linear servos operate as a direct replacement for standard rotary servos. They use the same standard 3 wire connector, ground power and control. Regardless of how you drive your servos, be it with an RC receiver, an Arduino board, or a VEX micro-controller, the L12-R servo will function in place of a regular rotary servo, but gives you the added benefit of linear motion.
Our L12 line are constructed using an anodized aluminum shaft, metal gearbox, brass screw and steel ball bearings. These quality linear servos are not only built to last, but will look great on your models.
Depending on the stroke length that you choose, the L12-R has a mass of between 34g-56g. It's small size and light weight make the L12-R ideal for airborne RC models, as well as robotics and RC projects.
The L12-R line includes 9 unique models featuring:
Optional stroke lengths of 30mm, 50mm or 100mm
3 gearing options for maximum forces between 22N (5lbs) and 80N (18lbs) and maximum speeds between 6.5mm/s and 25mm/s
Available in 6V only to ensure compatibility with RC receivers
NOTE: The L12-R will not operate plug-and-play with Futaba receivers such as the R6014FS that output 2.7 volts. You will need a Smart Fly Power Expander or Orbit Power Jack to bring the signal level up to 5vdc for the L12-R to operate.
Actuonix micro linear servos are approved by First Tech Challenge and are compatible with their allowed servo controllers.

    are these servos self-locking?

Hi there, I'm not exactly what you mean by that but they do have a holding force. When power is not applied they will hold their position up to the rated back drive force.

are these bang bang or can you hit lengths in between?

I'm not sure what you mean by bang bang. They work in the same way as a typical servo in that they will follow the stick. If you want to use it to emulate a hydraulic system you would want an S series actuator and a compatible motor controller.

Actuonix Motion Devices by bang bang I mean that it is either on or off. So either fully extended or fully contracted

No. If run through an RC receiver it will follow the movement of the stick on your radio.
