From broke to billionaire! It’s easy to see the fairy-tale ending, that Jaime Kern Lima sold her cosmetics business to L’Oreal for a billion dollars. But what’s not so apparent are the years of constant rejection that she suffered in the beginning when she couldn’t even get her business off the ground. She couldn’t get a business loan and she couldn’t find anyone who would give her product a platform. Most people would certainly have quit.
On this episode of Women of Impact with Lisa Bilyeu, Jaime Kern Lima explains exactly why she continued to have faith in her intuition, and why she absolutely refused to give up on her mission to create beautiful cosmetics for women who look like her.

I know this is for entrepreneurs and I'm not one, but I needed to hear this after spending 12 hrs doing my resume, cover letter and applying for jobs out of state just to hear my husband tell me that if I can't get a job in the state then its impossible for me to get a job out of state, and mock me by saying u think ur just gonna be the savior and get a good job and move us out of the state. I'm gonna keep hustling 2morrow morning. Someone is going to pick my resume and give me a good paying job out of state and close to my sister. No matter how many times my resume gets rejected someone will eventually accept it and give me a chance.

@@LisaBilyeu I'm sorry I was so busy working that I forgot to put in an update. I got a good paying job in a different state and I moved my family. We have an apartment for now, but have plans on getting out of debt and buying a house. Thank you so much for the kind and encouraging words and this video , I kept those words in my mind every day while I was applying for jobs. I'm religious so I prayed to god everyday and he answered my prayers.

Your story about the guy who rejected you because of the way you look... and that you knew he was wrong.... that is the most powerful thing I've heard! I've been trying to grasp onto something concrete after my marriage of 18 years and with it my identity of the wife-mother-the care taker, has shattered. Most of that identity was based of what everyone expected me to be. I wish I had the strenght to know that many times they were wrong. Thanks for being authentic and honest and please keep going! Write the book!

I got fired too and started my own business!! It's all for a reason but hurtful at the time. Love this story because it's so powerful and teaches us how to endure and keeping building confidence!

First off, these Bilyeu people are amazing. Love Lisa and Tom. Lisa, thank you for bringing great content and messages. Next, Jamie's story is almost too much to be true. Believe It is a GREAT book. I pre-ordered her new book WORTHY that is due out 2/2024. Someone needs to turn Jamie's story into a motion picture. This is a Rocky or Shoe Dog sort of story. I am using Jamie as one of my mentors. Truly, WWJD - What Would Jamie Do.

I loved hearing Jamie’s story - it really resonated with me. People often expect immediate results or success and that’s not always the case. When Jamie said she didn’t realize it would be three years before she could take a paycheck from her business - wow, that’s crazy, but it’s also true for many entrepreneurs. Plus, the bits about trying to raise funding. I’ve had many similar experiences like this in my career and loved seeing a strong, vibrant woman reinforce that these dreams and successes do not always come true overnight and to keep working hard towards them.
