Cheung Tin-chi's son referred to him as "sifu" I thought he must have trained his son at least a bit of his skills. Later in his own titular film Master Z (the one with Bautista), we don't see much of that. But Tin-chi, despite looking cold & unapproachable on the outside, also has a healthier relationship with his son compared to Yip Man, who got into a serious quarrel with his. I think it was over some school stuff. This is an interesting positioning: Yip Man might be superior to Tin-chi in his trade as martial artist, but he's not always that successful in all areas in life.

No the things that happened historically were that Ip Man opened a school, became Bruce Lee's teacher and a few more things but none of the fights happened in real life

Ip defeated 11 black belts and two highly skilled martial arts master in the first movie with ease. This right here, beating up 60 dudes, it's just a regular Thursday🤣🤣🤣 The only fighters who gave Ip trouble (in his donnie ip series) were the 2 boxers and the military guy (Scott Adkins). They all used the art of BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA, meaning they're punching the crap out of you.

Those boxer fights highlighted the struggle of Wing Chun- as a soft style it usually helps to negate the physical strength of the opponent; but when their punches can throw you off your feet, that starts becoming irrelevant. In each fight Ip Man has to use something that takes advantage of the weaknesses of boxing or of that specific boxer- against Tyson he forced him to use kicks and grappling to attack, though even then he was struggling. I remember the first boxer he fought but not his name, and against that guy with a ref restricting his moves he focused on pure striking speed to bury him with attacks, along with a healthy dose of fighting through the pain of his injuries.

Классика жанра, окружили толпой и каждый по очереди нападает, а остальные бегают и ждут своей очереди, в жизни всё прозаичнее, окружили и толпой все сразу втоптали в асфальт, режиссер очевидно страшно далёк от реальной жизни
