Does anyone else find the sound of the scraper soothing, or just love the sound! 3:56 as a First Nation member of the Ojibway Tribe, for centuries we’ve been using cedar as one of our sacred medicines, we use it for a number of things, mostly it is used in a mixture of sage, tobacco and sweet grass then used in ceremonies (smoked in a pipe), most First Nations people boil it. For the cedar tea, it is high in vitamin c and cleanses the system, right now during Covid, we are using it to not only drink to ward off Covid, (it is not a cure, but we believe it helps to fight it) but the steam cleanses the air inside the home. As a tea, the entire stem is boiled, or use the leaves (scrape off the stem) , you cannot use cedar that is grown near houses or buildings, you can only use “pure” cedar, the one found in the wild, near lakes, marshes, when we take something from the land we are to give back, and that is in the form of tobacco (yes, you can use a cigarette, tobacco only, the filter and paper you cannot litter) when offering tobacco make sure it is placed in your left hand, the reason being as our left hand is closest to the heart (offering is coming from the heart) and simply give thanks to our Mother Earth for growing such a beautiful plant for us to use, ask her to give the plant healing properties that you need during sickness. In closing, I’d like to give Blessings to us all during this most difficult time. May you continue to pray to our blessed mother Mary and that she will intervene for us and ask on our behalf to the Heavenly Father/Creator that we may be spared from this horrible virus, but that she may ask to find a cure or vaccine, and to bring comfort and strength to those who lost loved ones, in her son Jesus’ name.

Century egg is not everyone's cup of tea. It's an acquired taste. I used to hate it when I was a kid and every time my grandparents had it, I'd literally gag. It's usually eaten with rice porridge (congee) and pickled ginger.

@@anngeewilson We have in Germany some things which you say from you have to learn to eat it before you turn twelve years old, or you will never be able to eat it :) In my case it is licorice, for example, though my Mother loved it and tried hard to teach me to want it^^. Or the brain of animals. Or heart and kidneys. Baaaah! I NEVER ate it, though my family did! Only liver, which is a traditional dish here in Berlin, with onions, apple slices, and mashed potatoes. No I eat no meat at all. But olives, which made me, well, vomit when I was small are now something I eat from huge jars. Hehe he. So I can understand you! And I know how your Grandparents have felt, half laughing, half somehow sad you will not have to he joy of their delicious and traditional food. By the way, I could not eat it, too. The look alone is awful. We have such food, too,;eggs which swim for a long time in a yellowish fluid. They used to stand traditional in the old beer cellars in Berlin were you sit and drink something. All say they are delicious. But nobody in my family ever would touch them . The look like yellow jelly and the yolk like dark green/brown dirt. Many greetings! I am so happy about these channels. China is so beautiful. I wished it was not so far away, sigh. It looks as if the air is cool and fresh and smells wonderful. All is lovely. I read a lot, and what your people had to go through makes me so sad, since I love China and it's history. And it's festivals! I was born under the sign of the moon, and I am a rabbit, so your festivals touch me, I LOVE to see in Chinese Web shops the stuff for the moon and rabbit celebrating. My very best wishes to your and your family! Be blessed. 💐 (And excuse my long comment, please).
