The Singer 2018 (China) performance of this song is incredible, but you ain't seen nothing yet...Ballads are her forte, aside from her awesome rapping, hip hopping. Say Something (A Great Big world) is a must, Royals by Lorde is another.

In the Philippines, autotune is simply used to add flair; unlike in the West, we do not use autotune to make our vocals more pleasant to hear. The singers here already sing beautifully.

Autotune is not bad for creativity purpose just to give different flavor to the sonh But if you use autotune for whole part of the song for singing, it's a sin already especially here in philippines where our standard of performing in singing live is so high because we loved live performances so much.

It was not autotune. It was a reverb.

It's not a cover coz she changed the arrangement of the entire song and made it her own.

For me the autotune intro is amazing, because I think she is painting a picture of being underwater, in the deep. Acoustically, that's what it sounds like and it is perfect. OIts not there because she needs it. Its an artistic choice to intro the song that way, and that's what's really interesting. I thought it was great, although I agree with you, she doesn't need it. She's got an amazing voice. She scats and raps a lot too, so I think she enjoys playing with textures. I've only heard her use it like this in Rolling in the Deep, so I think it is tied to water as an acoustic choice. I'd love to hear her take on it though.
