Kyren Wilson on Rebuilding His Game, Ebdon's Impact & World Final Loss

Спорт

Kyren Wilson, The Warrior, welcomes Stephen to his room in Northampton for a frame and a chat where they discuss the incredible impact that Peter Ebdon has had on his career, his obsession with the sport and how it's affected his life at times and his 2020 World Championship final against Ronnie O'Sullivan where he played in front of an empty Crucible.
He also discusses how he re-built his game with coach Barry Stark, the fitness levels required, setting goals and addresses his perceived 'robotic' style.
It's a brilliant conversation, give the video a like if you enjoyed it and leave a comment about who you'd like to see on the channel next.

Kyren always seems like such a sound guy and he's given us some amazing matches. His World semi-final match with McGill was one of the most gripping I've ever enjoyed and his 147 this year was top notch. I really want to see him win a World title. It seems like he just needs that extra little boost in endurance and nerve in the big tournaments, as his technical game is right up there.

me too i would love to see him and Jack Lisowski both win a world title Judd needs to lift another one too i know that he made it to the final last year but there has been four world championships since he won he needs to start stringing a few wins together and get a few more world crowns under his belt before he reaches 40 and of course we need o'sullivan to surpass hendry and get that 8th as his record is not that much better than hendrys considering he has had much more to aim at than hendry and experienced more longevity an eighth world championship would help to seal it and settle the debate once and for all who is the absolute very best the greatest of all time

@@stewartmcrae8007 I think that's what makes the worlds' so special, when there are so many deserving players but there can be only one. I have to say that when Bingham won, it was sweet because he came from under the radar and everyone's predictions came to naught, but he played his heart out that year. For me though, being a huge Ronnie fan, I would also love to see him get the 8th, the emotion that would bring would be off the scale! As for Kyren; hearing about his being torn between family and snooker was interesting. He is 'The Warrior' and has world champion written all over him, but to solve that situation being The Warrior is not the answer... I think he will make it though, he IS a sound guy and he has that inner drive and belief that gives me hope :)

@@musicbro8225 Ronnie getting the eighth would be incredible you are right about Stuart Bingham he was a unexpected champion sort of like Luca this year as I didn't give him a hope particularly against O'sullivan and Selby Judd needs to get it together and become a multiple world champion he is older than I am before he knows it another few seasons will go by and he will be done for him to end his career as a one time champion like Murphy Bingham Dott Thorburn Taylor Ebdon and Parrot would be a tragedy the same with Robertson he has like another 12 cracks at it since and never reached a semi final

@@stewartmcrae8007 One of the things these videos from Stephen show me is the players I thought were hard men, turn out to be less steel and more cream puff hehe. I say that with no disrespect at all, in fact it makes me like them even more because it shows how hard they have to fight to succeed, for most it does not come naturally, it goes against their nature to be merciless and destructive so not only do they have to play good snooker, they have to fight their own nature and it just wears them out. It's not even something consistent across all players, each one has a different struggle. and it's a constant struggle, not like you can just grab it and pin it down because you have to be kind to yourself otherwise you'll end up hating the experience. I think Ronnie has a wonderful attitude these days, he has mastered what Steve Davis said, something along the lines of "play each game like it doesn't matter" (pretty sure that's not exact but), he just want's to enjoy the experience now, he's had enough stressful trauma.

This guy is a legend in my opinion. We had a good friend who has sadly passed now but one of the lads from our club emailed him and to our surprise he sent a video message to our friend as the warrior was his favorite player. Wasn't a long video but a lovely touch and it meant a lot to our friend who was really poorly at this point. Just thought it was a lovely gesture from what seems like a really nice guy. Really hope he goes on to win the world championship at some point in his career.

Let me spell it out for those who haven't understood that the more intelligent one is, the slower one is (unless gifted with exceptional natural talent such as Ronnie, Luca): The more intelligent one is, the more possibilities one sees -> the longer it takes to think them all through.

I saw this “live” on the day it was filmed lol, I was at the pub playing darts and “playing” my first game of snooker, I’m also very new to snooker so this channel will definitely help me get into it.

Great video. Kyren is such a nice chap and deserves to get the results. As an aside, I'd love you to get Ebdon on the channel to talk about his career and his coaching. Too many people forget how good Ebdon was in his prime and I find that quite sad.

Ebdon was a fantastic player and mentally, probably the strongest I've ever seen. Too many people seem obsessed with speed of potting as if tactics dont matter

Fantastic again. You trying out new cues to try and pick one and talking us through the process of what you like/dont like with different cues would be a fascinating watch.
