That’s a great track for these buggy’s. That Optima Mid looked and sounded fantastic. Great driving ! I also have one with the hobbywing 120 esc and brushless EZRun 3652SD G3 Sensored Brushless Motor (4100kV). On 2S. Though it can handle 3S if I could get a battery to fit in the chassis. Though 2S is plenty fast enough. It is fast. So fast, a LOT LOT faster than the old Tamiya Frog I once had. And the 4wd belt system makes it so much easier to control. The build of the Kit was fantastic and I’d love to do a new one each year over the rainy summer we have.

Great vid, and I just flew back from a week in Tokyo, you are going to love it, unfortunately it was for work, no time for shopping. That Turbo Optima was looking pretty happy on that track today for me!

I've got a turbo optima mid that I got in highschool in around 1991 I think. It eventually had some breakage and got mothballed. I have been working on restoring it. I've got a castle creations brushless setup and a pair of 2s 5000mah LiHV batts that are shaped to fit the stock battery location. I tore it down and cleaned everything and regreased gears, and put a new belt in, and a new lower right suspension arm. However, when I turn the wheels by hand the new belt "ticks" every few teeth. I think it's not a good match, and I'll have to go back to the old belt, but that means removing the belt cover and completely disassembling it again, which kinda sucks. It's a great car though. I had a blast with it in highschool and college. I managed to crack the front shock tower, which I have now replaced, and then recently broke the lower suspension arm by running into my own cars tire in the driveway. The rubber on rubber gripped hard and tore it right out. I had also bent the bottom aluminum plate, but have since straightened it.

Yeah, man, you knew I'd like this one! Yeah, great buggies, especially the Kyoshos are so smooth! This track is actually really good, you get full throttle quite a good stretch, very nice, and of course the jumps are quite awesome. I also find that 50 km/h is pretty much the fastest you need from a tenth scale buggy, although I admit sometimes a bit faster is also fun, ha ha... Yeah, very enjoyable, this one!

Faaarrk, maaate. Gotta drag out my Re Re Optima and build it up. I’ve got the Le Mans 240S ESC and a Le Mans 240 gold 13.5T brushless to fit in it.😊

Very nice comparsion of these wonderful buggys. Those super stock motors are the perfect choice for 1/10 buggys 👍 Tamiya is the only brand I know that making good brushed motors, never tried Kyoshos brushed but they probably just as good if not better (and more expensive)🙂

Is that a public space in a park especially built for using with RC cars. We don’t have anything like that in the UK - how amazing 😮

Is the motor and speed controller in the Plasma Edge and Optima Mid similar? The difference in speed was considerable!

The optima mid has a Rz motor and the Plasma has the Bz ... Esc is the same on both ... Similar speeds but higher gearing on the mid

Are Lipo’s dangerous? Always used nimh batteries and not sure about using lipo’s as heat they can explode and be a fire risk - not sure I want them in my house 😮
