Kyosho Turbo Optima Chassis Build

Ойын-сауық

In this video I build the chassis for the Kyosho Turbo Optima. I also show the new under tray available from Revive RC which will be great for protecting that beautiful gold alloy chassis. I'll leave a link below where you can get it! The electronics I used for the build are the Savox SC-1251MG servo, Futaba R202GF receiver, Kyosho LeMans 240s 15.5t Brushless motor and Kyosho LeMans 240s ESC. Enjoy!

Quality might be nice, but fitment issues are a plenty. All four arms do not move freely under their own weight. More so with the rear arms. And some ball studs in the rods also don't move freely, I'd say the quality is inconsistent. Quite disappointing as I was expecting a quality build. I'm still yet to finish it as I type this. I haven't had fitment issues with the number of tamiya kits I have built.

Great stuff! I've been having a blast with my Ultima, it got built first to be raced in an outdoor race here that started in 1987, the year the Ultima swept the podium at world's. I've got the Gold kit, and a few parts hanging about...just about ready to build it. I am thinking about getting the undergrad and some aftermarket 2.2 wheels and tires... I don't know that I'd want to run the gold one much without the undertray, it's so shiny and gold. I really hope Kyosho make plenty more parts for these kits, I need some of those shock seals...and a red shock parts tree or two... etc... those bottom cap seals are a bugger, thankfully there were two extras in the spare parts bag... I'd also love to get a set of arms for my Optima before I send it on our modern outdoor tracks... Cheers!

Thanks Isaiah! The Ultima is awesome, I love mine too they're a great buggy. I felt the same about the under guard, it would be heart breaking to scratch up the gold on it's first run. I also hope Kyosho have plenty of parts for these. Sadly they seem quite slow with their spare parts supply for the other cars in the Legendary Series, I guess Covid hasn't helped that at all. Sorry for my late reply. Hope your build goes smoothly, it's a great buggy! 👍

Not enough space to plug it in while it's installed, so out came the ESC again lol. I'm hoping to have the body done this week, I only just started on the driver. The gold really stands out, I love these old Kyoshos and they are built tough . Would have to be Kevin Talbot to break one. I had only 1 problem so far. For some reason when I put the slipper clutch shaft back in the alloy tube fell . Think I played with the belt drive too much because that thing is just Cool. Very top quality kit and they are cheap for what they are . Nice work mate, should be a beast with that nice combo.

Hi Mick!!!! I love gold!!!! 🤣🤣🤣! Quick question as this video came at a perfect time!!! I took your advice and bought me that kit. First kyosho!!! A little nervous about building it as I have only done Tamiyas. Does this come with a spur gear for the motor or do I have to buy it separately? Also the Le Mans motors all have to be soldered? If so I’m shit at that so what other motors do you recommend? Love ya brother!!! Thanks 🙏

G'day Chris! Me too mate! 😁. Awesome!!! Trust me, after building Tamiya kits, this one will be quite different. In a good way of course, you're gonna love building it! Yes, it comes with the spur and pinion. All you need is a servo, receiver, motor and ESC. As far as I know all the LeMans brushless motors need to be soldered. If you're not too worried about having brushed or brushless, I think a Kyosho G14L motor would be good. It's a brushed 550 size can, so it's a little long but will fit no problem at all! It's a 14t, so plenty of power. It's the motor they used in the first Mad Van and RAGE 2.0. I think that motor and a Hobbywing 1060 ESC would be great fun. The motor comes with soldered wires with bullet connectors and the ESC has the same bullet connectors. Hope this help mate! 👍

I try to add these details but half the time I don't even remember where I bought things from and lot of my builds happen a long time (sometimes years) after I bought the cars/parts. Example, the motors and ESC's behind me are bought from many different places over time. Just depends if things are in stock and if I can afford them when they are. 😉👍
