A digest version of the monthly match held on June 16, 2024
This match was held in protective gear style (Kyokushin-do style).
Kyokushin-do is a merger and renaming of Takushin Budo and hitting competitions. Kyokushin-do also has a training system as a martial art and a training system as a martial arts sport.
The rules of the game are basically complete, but like other sports, we will be revising (improving) the details. There was a proposal for revision at this game, so we plan to revise it. Revision is necessary to create something better.
There are four types of "Kyokushin-do" competitions.
1) Competitions using protective gear (Kyokushin-do style)
2) Competitions using gloves (IBMA-kickboxing style)
3) Competitions without thrusts to the face (IBMA-Kyokushin style)
4) There are competitions using sticks.
Kyokushin-do competitions are divided into several types, depending on the limited attack methods and the tools used. The biggest difference between the two is the method of judging. To put it simply, in Kyokushin-do competitions, more accurate attacking techniques are considered "effective hits" and are the basis for victory. Considering effective hits as the basis for victory means that you cannot win unless you improve your defensive skills. The ultimate scenario is a situation where you fight with a knife or something similar. Kyokushin-do is the beginning and a path of eternal evolution. Please understand this. It is about reviving not only Kyokushin Karate but also karate competitions as the original martial arts and recognizing the essence of martial arts.
Masuda believes that Japanese martial arts and Western sports share commonalities and affinity as religious ceremonies and universality as cultures formed by humans. He hopes to utilize this affinity and universality in future society.
【About Kyokushin-do】
Akira Masuda named the martial art he aimed to create "Takushin-budo," but when it became a competitive sport, it was renamed "Kyokushin-do." We will clarify the meaning of this in the future, but to put it simply, "Kyokushin-do" means returning to the origins of "Kyokushin" that Oyama Masutatsu sensei would have envisioned during his training, putting that philosophy into practice and elevating it.
