My mom dated him as well. I have pictures . They always dressed alike rocking the same colors . He was very generous towards her and I’m glad she was towards him too. It’s so weird . He dated my mom around the time of his death. I wonder how many other women he was dating too. My mom went away to jail and left some of her pictures with her best friend and she “lost “ them . She recently found a receipt of a Cartier bracelet she was going to surprise him with . She had it sent to his sister house . She still keeps in contact with his photographer. Very nice man . Their nicknames for each other were tree and root . She was root and he was the tree . He always said you are the root to my tree . Rip Gerald “tree” levert .

Gerald was also in love with Mikki Howard and she has told her story about their relationship on Unsung. Mikki really loved Gerald, but just as Kym said, Gerald loved a lot of women. He was very generous.

I like that Kym said Mo'Nique was on some grown woman stuff. I sided with Mo'Nique against Oprah and in a lot of ways Kym's statement showed the level of respect she "honestly" holds for Mo'Nique while at the same time revealing she's not on Mo'Nique's level of maturity or security. I loved me some Gerald Levert, I have the utmost respect for Mo'Nique and I think Kym is a sweet go along to get along person.

Shoutout to Gerald, but the whole "there can only be one star in the relationship" thing...She dodged a bullet by not marrying him. She would have had to give up her dreams to appease him and I have yet to meet any woman who is happy about that decision in the long term. They end up bitter and miserable. They should have stayed in the friend zone and nothing more.

One of the best concerts in my life was a last minute invite to see Gerald LeVert, Monique & Frankie Beverly & Maze at the Greensboro coliseum in NC back in like 2000 or 2001. Gerald Levert came out tossing lil stuffed teddy bears. Screaming my lungs out he tossed one in my direction. The much shorter lady to the left of me didn’t stand a chance. LeVert tossed it & I snatched it before her hands touched it 🤣
