In my opinion, ever since Messi and Ronaldo left Europe, there isn’t a clear “best player in the world” and right now anybody can win the Ballon Dor and they have a good case for it especially if one of France England or Spain wins the EUROs, football is so open right now and there’s a feeling that there’s a massive drop off in quality. Kylian Mbappe is likely to win the Ballon Dor if France wins the EUROs and with him as the face of football, he should be the best player in the world, but right now he’s been a shadow of his former self and doesn’t look like the “best in the world” not to mention that he went missing in a lot of big games in his final months at PSG in the champions league. Vinicius Junior is the leading frontrunner for the Ballon Dor, yet even he has consistently been struggling for the Brazil national team, Jude Bellingham is a combination of being a good player and someone is being carried by Madrid PR and the first 3-4 months of the season is why he’s in the race to win the Ballon Dor because when Real Madrid won the Champions League, he wasn’t their most important player as he wasn’t decisive enough in the knockout stages and he has led England to the semifinals of the EUROs and he’s had his moments in the tournament like that overhead kick goal against Slovakia which equalized the game and kept his team in the competition, he’s had 3-4 poor performances in a row and as for good of a player he is, you can’t tell me he’s a Ballon Dor caliber player. He has a chance of being the best player in the world when he hasn’t even been the best player on his team throughout the season. Even Erling Haaland going into the peak of his career still can’t qualify for a major tournament with Norway and they have some talented players in their team, I mean Georgia Romania Slovenia and Slovakia made it to the RD of the EUROs, Turkey were so close to getting to a semifinals not to mention that despite his goalscoring record as he’s doing his job well as a striker which is to score goals, again not at the level to win the Ballon Dor because his overall play has been poor, he doesn’t show up in big matches and as great as he is at scoring goals, number 9s like him is never the best player in the world. When I wanna make an argument for Mbappe Vini Haaland or Bellingham to be the best player in the world, I don’t like when people try to compare them to Messi and Ronaldo and try to act like they should be hitting their standards. There is no clear frontrunner as to who should win the Ballon Dor and while 1 major tournament shouldn’t mask up how good of a season they had at club level, these performances that we’re seeing from these players makes you wonder if football fell off.

Really? Have you seen Osimhen play for Nigeria? He managed just a goal in the entire AFCON and struggles in the national team. His stats are better at the club because they have better chemistry, and they create more chances than he misses. I saw a number of times when Kylian would make a run, and his teammates couldn't pick him out! So obviously, the entire team is now adapting.
