Dr Nilesh Chordiya (a GI & Gynecologic oncologist with over 10 years of experience in cancer surgery) answered one of our viewers' questions in this video.
Question: I am 28 years old, and 7 years ago my left side ovary was removed. Now there is a simple cyst in the right side ovary, so will it also have to be removed?
Answer: It is important to determine whether the ovarian cyst removed seven years ago was precancerous or cancerous.
Because you stated that you have a simple cyst, I can guarantee you that a simple cyst is a benign tumour, which means it is not cancerous.
Premenopausal ovarian cysts of up to 10 cm are typical, and postmenopausal ovarian cysts of up to 5 cm are normal.
If you continue to have severe pain as a result of the cyst, an ovarian cystectomy, which is a surgical operation to remove the cyst from your ovary, can be performed.
Ovarian Simple cysts are fluid-filled sacs that can develop in or on the ovaries. The majority of ovarian cysts are benign (noncancerous) and are caused by hormonal fluctuations, pregnancy, or disorders such as endometriosis.
Simple ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that are frequent in both pre-and postmenopausal women. These sacs rarely cause cancer or raise the chance of developing it, and many simple ovarian cysts resolve on their own without therapy.
