I’m the world’s un-handiest dude. The thumb latch fell off my knob, so I started unscrewing pieces hoping an easy solution would reveal itself. Instead, parts rained down onto the floor. I thought, well, there’s a couple hundred bucks out the door for a locksmith call. But your video saved me! Everything fit back together perfectly as you showed, and the knob works as new. Thank you so much. I have a Baldwin Handleset where the lever stopped pulling the latch back, and when I took it off the door the pieces went everywhere. Since these pieces are pre-assembled at the factory, the installation instructions were no help. I was able to figure out where every piece went except for that darn large spring. Very helpful. It was exactly what we needed. We followed the instructions and did it. The only thing needs to know your door direction. If it’s opposite then the half moon direction needs to be opposite as well. Thanks!

The handle on my Kwikset front door lock, fell off when I opened the door. Everything else remained in place. I could see the set screw, but wasn't sure what it did. It seems kinda obvious now that I watched the video. So I did a search (for exactly what the title of your video is) and got my answer at about 5:30. So glad I didn't have to go the Lowe's and look for ..., something?? to fix it. All I needed was a 3/32 allen wrench. Thank you!

Does anyone know where I can buy these parts? I have a steel door so when the inner mechanism came apart it all fell down into the door, I was only able to pull up the metal parts with a long magnet but not the plastic gear. Also, the brass looking plate that holds everything down has only one complete hole to hold it down. So basically I need the plastic gear and a new plate.

Help!!!! My handle fell off like this (everything still intact) but I can't get it to go back together. Both curved parts are on the opening side and I can get it through the latch part but it's as if the handle side curvy half-moon part is too long by about 1/4 inch. What am I doing wrong?

Can I find the piece that you picked up at 1:40 into the video at a store? The metal on mine that that screws hold it down have broken off where both the screws go into that part. I just need to find that part and I can fix my door. I can't seem to find that part (5014868) on Kwiksets site or anywhere else on the internet. Frustrating! Do you have nay suggestions? Thank you!

For the past several days our front door has been faltering. In my usual solution, I tried to ignore it, with hopes it would fix itself. But increasingly, the outside latch was not going up & down properly, sometimes not moving at all, essentially keeping anyone from entering; this afternoon, my wife heard our six year old daughter crying at the front door because she couldn’t figure out how to get inside. This evening on the way out for our walk, my wife said that she will try to find and pick up a new door assembly tomorrow. It typical fashion I told her something like, “you don’t know it’s broken, for sure!”. After a she was frustrated with me about something different during conversation on our walk, she stood at the front door trying to unsuccessfully open the door, yanked it hard, and pulling the handle off the door, with guts of the assembly falling to the ground. She said, now it’s broken, for sure, as she stepped over the mess entering the house. Of course, I put on my stubborn fix-it hat. I think I am a fix-it-man, but I’m not; proven by my wife firing me from quite a few simple household repair jobs by calling a professional. In any case, I managed to disassemble the door assembly; nothing appeared broken; but I could not figure out how to reassemble it. I found your video and soon, the door was back functioning. Thank you for the video; for the way you laid out the parts, in order of assembly (initially, I was missing the inside spring; thanks for pointing out its importance!); thank you, for the tip about lock-tite for the inside, small screws, as one of them had come off, and the interior assembly was not functioning properly as a result. Thank you, for the simple, easy-to-understand steps. Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
