Kurt Cobain's Most Underrated Riffs

Музыка

Hey guys! Since I love Nirvana and Kurt Cobain so much I decided to make a few videos with Nirvana underrated guitar riffs and Kurt Cobain underrated riffs. By the way, I personally think that Kurt was a great guitar player and singer, and of course he was a great composer and musician in common. I've read some books about Nirvana and Kurt Cobain recently and that pushed we to make some videos with Nirvana to pay my tribute. I've already have "Top 10 Nirvana Riffs" and "Top 10 Nirvana Underrated Riffs" videos, so you should check them out as well. Now I hope you'll enjoy this "Kurt Cobain underrated riffs" video, guys!

    That's the same with 90% of bands, really. Radio hits have to be catchy and simple so the casual music listener stays interested. Deep tracks are for music lovers who purchase the releases to enjoy the whole offering, they're the ones who get the good shit.

    Yep, 100%! People always claim Kurt is a mediocre musician (who are usually somehow not great themselves) but that's because they only hear what's on the radio. Good songs, but Nirvana is so much more than Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are....

  • @Atlas65

    @Atlas65

    Жыл бұрын

    @@brittz7506 Agree. But even Smells Like Teen Spirit is super great. And if you are a songwriter you can really recognise that. But that has also alot to do with Dave Grolls drumming on that track as well. How he lifts up that simple guitar riff with his approach on the drums... Then we are even excluding this masterfully written vocal melody that goes with these four chords, or this simple bassline that follows the root of these chords, played by Krist Novoselic.

    IMO as someone who does not have the musical talent to be a musician but has the guitar talent to be good to great guitar player by itself, I would say his style is like taking the very very basics of rhythm guitar playing, with his strumming n chord progressions, is where u should be at 6 months after playing, but instead of learning more techniques and skills he just out accents and Ferness on this style, and his music was not really a product of a great music track and a great vocal track constructing a song, more of his two instruments making a unique sound when put together as a song.

    Well done! Tittle could also be most Cobain riffs :D it is mind boggling what he could come up with using just barre chords and how he was able to put some epic melodies on some of the fairly atonal chords. Not to forget how musical Krist was in his anarchist way and how Dave had very much signature drum parts in every song to give depth to the otherwise simple songs. This made such an impact on me in -92 onwards so I'm obviously biased but it was such a great band wasnt it.

    Appreciate what you are doing here. The interesting thing about Kurt's riffs are they are not quite as simple as they seem. You are playing alot of them 98% correct with just a tiny bit of variance to how he actually played them. The other thing to note is that often he would simplify the way he played certain songs for live shows compared to the studio recordings. Another thing is few songs also evolved over time in the way they were played. Kurt had an odd way of playing with some things almost seeming to be made more difficult than they possibly should have been, but then who am I to tell someone how their own songs should have gone. Anyway, cheers for the vid.

    Underrated for sure. Shredding is cool but a concise, memorable riff is much more satisfying to my ears. Cobain was capable of a lot more than people realize. A lot of his Bleach-era guitar solos are just fantastic; certainly better than I could come up with. Thank you for showcasing some of those great riffs! Big Long Now and Swap Meet are criminally under appreciated, even by Nirvana fans.

    This is dumb. You just can't say that because Nirvana itself is in the Top 10 most famous bands in the whole world of all time! There's no way anything they did is underrated. There are thousands other bands riffs which you could easily say that

    @@alex.starostin Thing is, Nirvana is famous for like 4-5 songs. I agree that their records are super iconic, but I don’t think that their songs get so much attention because their one of the most famous bands out there… Like we get agree that SMLTS is overrated to some extent but the way it was written and recorded, I still think it’s one of the best songs ever written and don’t get me wrong, I was once of the guys to say that Nirvana was overrated but I realised that there was way more to it than what people like. That’s why I’m saying that all their riffs are underrated cuz I don’t think they get as much praise as they should for the most part I guess… Anyways, just my opinion and I’m so fkn biased
