Hard to appreciate what he put himself through with the intense training and his injuries. Respect. Nice one Brian

    This was brilliant. I will say this on the Benoit subject; you have to separate the art from the artist, if you don’t you’re only spiting yourself because his work was some of the best the wrestling business has ever seen.

  • @ryanblackmore8033

    @ryanblackmore8033

    I would counter simply: it's a personal choice. Benoit was my hero, and also a LOCAL hero to me. I was in Edmonton live for backlash. I can't watch Benoit matches. I tried a couple times. I don't feel a desire to try. I wouldn't demand that his work is erased, nor that any other person should stop watching Benoit matches. By the same token, neither should anybody be required to separate the art from the artist. (This is wholly separate from any argument about celebrating the man posthumously; I would argue strongly that there is no way to celebrate his career. His murder of two people negates that.) I listen to musicians that bothers choose not to. I see it case by case, and individual choice. 🙌

  • @jameslitz9819

    @jameslitz9819

    it's impossible sometimes when it's THAT serious, separating the art from the artist works when its something like the the artist having different political views, but I cannot watch a Benoit match without knowing in my mind that he murdered a woman and child, it's just not possible for me to enjoy his matches

    Big thank you to True Geordie for giving us a podcast with the legend Kurt Angle, it's always good to hear from his point of view and it gives professional wrestling a good impression based on the backstory of what truly goes on. I'm not longer a fan of the professional wrestling product in WWE, AEW has better entertainment but from his era in both TNA and WWE he really went out his way to give us athletism and a raw performance. This is why MMA fans or any combat sport fan should recognise how much these athletes go through on the road all year round, it's not easy, one match is tiresome and top of that taking constant abuse to the body with the expectation to train for in and out the ring. It's a brutal sport that has gotten many men killed, we need to start appreciating it instead of labelling it the "fake sport". I watch MMA and Boxing, whether I'm more accustomed to the realism of both sports at age 28, pro wrestling has always given me more entertainment than both. If giving entertainment is a crime because it's scripted, than call me a clown with the rest... Your life is boring if you think it's not possible to watch combat sports and enjoy pro wrestling.

    Angle is so modest when he is hailed as the G.O.A.T. He claims he’s not the greatest because he didn’t remain loyal to one promotion for an extended period of time. However he forgets that Austin and the Rock had relatively short careers compared to guys like triple H, Michael’s, Kane & Taker. You don’t have to work 20 years straight with one company. It’s what you do in the time that is given to you. Regardless of what he thinks about his career he is awesome. A genuine gift to the world of pro-wrestling and perc angle was a beast!
