Dude !! I can't say how much this meant to me, I'm 62, struggling with my back, been really down in the dumps, looking at nothing but dark times....when Kurt talked about kicking painkillers and doing it for his family, while not having high self esteem, that hit me like a hammer...ain't gonna say listening to how y'all deal with tribulations has changed my life, but I KNOW there's hope, I'm going to keep trying. MY KURT ANGLE STORY: I met Kurt Angle in August of 2003 right after Summer Slam in the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. I worked for TSA and just had an encounter with Tripple H at the terminal. I was eating alone inside the back end of Nathans hot dogs inside terminal (Away from public view). When this massive body builder with a hat came by and asked to sit next to me. I was like yeah and then right away i was like WAIT!!! Are you (Kurt Stopped me) and I was in awe. I had just watched him and Brock go at it, now here he is in front of me. I didn't want to bother him eating so left it at that, then he started to talk to me. We had a conversation for about 15 mins before i had to leave back to work. Here again to see this amazing podcast. I actually was watching it with my friend who is in another country. We just loved it! Seeing Kurt Angle brought back so many great childhood memories when my dad and I watched WWF/WWE. The Attitude Era and the birth of Raw and SmackDown! Oh man, it was just amazing. And hearing his story about the politics, how wrestling was then and how it is now. My dad and I watch documentaries and hearing some we just cry at what these men and women had gone through. And hearing about the addiction that he had... My father has been sober for almost 40 years, I have never seen him drunk or doing drugs. And to see Kurt doing so much better and feeling better himself as a whole just brings a huge smile on my face. God Bless him! And thank you for bringing up the opioid epidemic. I work in Health Insurance under customer service and hearing customers complain about their painkillers (hydrocodone, oxycodone, vicoden) being denied at their pharmacy when it's Medicare trying to make sure that there is no one abusing these medications. And I don't think many people do believe that this is a serious crisis that can be fixed. Granted, it will take some time; but we can fix this and find ways to help end this epidemic. Jon, as usual, amazing episode! Love you, your family, and your beautiful dogs! Keep it up and I can't wait to see next weeks episode.

When the other guy came on screen there was a definite alpha moment where Kurt was respectful but gave him a look. Other guy then showed respect and kept his body posture in a non alpha / non threatening position throughout. That’s respecting your elders right there !

I’ve yet to hear from any Olympic or world champion wrestler of Kurt Angle’s caliber that didn’t teach me a ton about not only the sport of wrestling, but life and being a better man or person. So much gold in this great men’s life experience. And unrelated note but I am elated women’s wrestling is now a thing. Watching my Neice grow up having fun in the sport and grow a love for it
