Abyss was basically the sting of WCW and the undertaker of WWE when he was in TNA. He was so loyal to that company and so thankful for the life they gave him that all he wanted was to see the company succeed and to help them do it. He even turned down a match at mania in 08 with undertaker to stay with TNA and I think that makes Abyss special. Loyalty like stings, undertakers, and abyss’s are rare

The amount of commitment to such a crazy spot is what makes it great. Most of the great high-flying moments have the wrestler looking down at the jump, taking a deep breath, and then jumping. Kurt sprinted full force at the edge of the stage and flipped off like he was going into a swimming pool. Absolutely no hesitation, all aggression.

I miss peak TNA so much. It was some of the most invested as a fan I ever felt. I’ve even gone back and rewatched it on the impact plus app. All the asylum stuff, 04-2015 before their fall from Grace. And I still found myself heavily invested in old storylines from 05-09. Christian, angle, main event mafia, the rise of aj styles, his feuds with Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe being an unstoppable killer, aj turning on Christian and joining angle after being Christian’s protégée for a couple years, Jay lethal becoming black machismo, kazarian almost beating Christian and almost beating Kurt angle, James mitchel being abyss father. The LAX and team 3D wars. Motor city machine guns and beer money. I miss being invested like that.
