    The idea behind Tai Lung's revenge wasnt just "Im so great, I am the true Dragon Warrior" but rather "You worked me to death since I was a child for a promised reward that never came". I love how it was done because, while his actions are far from condonable, its far more understandable where they came from.

    Also he was mostly trying to pin on Shifu for his assholery he already was a sort of an asshole before denied the scroll he still would've created havoc after knowing the truth of the scroll, there's a reason only the dragon warrior was the scroll you've to be the Dragon warrior to 'get' the scroll not the other way around, it's not the scroll but the journey .not just about skills but character

    @@PrateekPandey2658it is mostly Shifu's fault. If Shifu displayed at least 1% of the pushback against Oogway when he denied Tigress, Tai Lung wound have felt seen and validated. Tai Lung was groomed and abandoned. His name was given to him by Shifu and that name translates to "Great Dragon"

    Fun trivia: In traditional chinese martial arts, the is a ‘’southern 5-forms kungfu” based on animals that are Tiger, Crane, Leopard, Snake and Dragon. In the northern style, the 5 animals are Tiger, Crane, Monkey, Snake and Praying Mantis. So the furious 5 and Tai Lung and in a way, Po (as the DRAGON warrior) are all together the Northern snd Southern 5 forms kungfu.

    Small and inconsequential spoiler in this message. I was re-watching 2 again recently, and I caught something that I had never caught before. At the start of the movie, when Mr. Ping (Po's dad) is inviting people into his shop, it is a noodle and tofu shop. Just a subtle little message of it is never too late to pursue your dream.

    I realized this too a couple of months back when I watched a kung fu panda 2 reaction from a different channel. It is such a small detail that is very easy to miss. Like, I've watched kung Fu Panda 2, probably a good 80 times since the first time I watched it when it first came out and I barely realized that detail like at around the end of 2023. It's a very small detail but also a very significant one ❤

The messenger arriving to order an oncrease in prison security gave tai lung a tool which he could use to escape, and every security measure in the prison only helped him further Also i love how much of tai lungs perspective you can see in his battle with shi fu. Oogway was right to refuse him but shi fu was wrong to force him to train so hard and to pretty much promise him he would be the dragon warrior which he isnt in control of

    14:05 The shell is to keep the green pins in place; it's based on acupuncture, which Mantis uses on Po later in the movie. It's also the basis for Tai Lung's "blue punch" move you dubbed. By using acupuncture and freezing Tai Lung's muscles in place, he can't escape the prison (theoretically)

    Po says he eats when he’s stressed and it looks like the door to the kitchen had a lock on it so I’m assuming the cabinets were maybe also locked. I think that’s why he was destroying the kitchen and eating a whole bunch of food seeing as how Tai Lung was coming and that’s probably a huge stressor. And tossing the dumpling and saying he wasn’t hungry anymore was a way of showing he wasn’t stressed anymore so he didn’t feel the need to eat.

    30:00 I believe you may have missed Tai-Lung’s entire point. Thing is, Shifu *was* the one who continually drove Tai-Lung to train and told him *he* was going to be the Dragon Warrior. Shifu simply didn’t do anything when Oogway denied him. Imagine being promised something your entire life, over-working for it then just being told “no.” Many people miss that because they more or less can’t understand that alot of times “villains” aren’t the way they are for no reason. They simply only know Good and Evil, and run with one or the other.

    @@NickEclipse But is it Shifu's fault? We don't actually know how much he "drove" Tai Lung and how much Tai Lung was simply driven by his desire for power, greatness and meaning. Some people seem to interpret it as though Shifu was the main driver, but we know that Shifu treated Tai Lung way nicer than his later students. So while he may have unintentionally planted the idea in Tai Lungs mind, I very much doubt that he was actively "driving" / pushing him through training. Especially based on the end of Tai Lungs training montage, where he destroys the training devices, it seems the larger driver here was his own ego, which is what Oogway saw and why he denied him. So, lesson? Stay humble. Don't expect to be given stuff just because you're good (or even worse, think you're good) at something.

  • @MindForgedManacle

    @MindForgedManacle

    3 ай бұрын

    @@lukasr5867 Well, yes it is. Tai Lung said Shifu "knew" he was the Dragon Warrior, and Shifu does not deny that. Which implies he either told Tai Lung that or made it obvious what he thought. That's why Shifu doesn't deny it, he just says it was never a determination he could make as opposed to Oogway. It doesn't justify anything Tai Lung did obviously, but no one in the story denies what Tai Lung said of Shifu. That he "filled his head with dreams" and drove him to "train until his bones cracked". That's a pretty clear implication of why he pushed himself to that level.

  • @lukasr5867

    @lukasr5867

    3 ай бұрын

    @@MindForgedManacle And never ever in the history of the world has anyone ever felt guilty for something that wasn't actually their fault, right? At the point of the confrontation only Shifu and Tai Lung really know what happened. So "no one in the story denies what Tai Lung said" is a pretty weak argument. It is in fact just a repetition of "Shifu doesn't deny it", which you yourself already weaken by admitting that Shifu did indeed respond to this claim and, while he didn't outright deny anything, at least explains that to him it was clear that it wasn't his decision and perhaps he thought the same would be clear to Tai Lung. Filling a head with dreams is not necessarily (or even usually) done on purpose (at least not to that extend). If you are sufficiently self-assured and detached from reality (as many young people are), even a small praise can get you dreaming all night long. Pair that with some determination and stubbornness and you can easily get someone to work on their dreams even to their own detriment. You seem to choose to interpret the dialog as though Shifu stood next to him every day like a smith pumping air into the fire, actively inciting Tai Lung to train to be the Dragon Warrior. But that's at the very extreme end of the interpretation spectrum and doesn't really feel like the Shifu we see throughout the rest of the movie. Based on his reactions I find it much more likely that Shifu merely sparked the fire with some praise in Tai Lungs childhood ("Continue training like this and you'll end up Dragon Warrior" or something like that) and continued to express his pride on Tai Lungs training results. To me Shifu seems to be sorry to not have detected the over-the-top determination of Tai Lung earlier and tried to decrease it. That he paid too much attention to the fighting prowess and too little to the cracked / cracking personality behind it. In both cases there is some blame to be put on Shifu, but the important difference is that in my understanding it's merely for social neglegence, whereas you seem to blame him for aggressively, actively and purposefully hurting his adoptive son.
