One cool philosophical thing of note is the different ways Po and Tai Lung interpret the scroll. Po says it’s “blank”; an empty canvas full of potential and possibility. Tai lung instead exclaims that “it’s nothing” showcasing his defeatism and inferiority in how he views himself. It’s a cool dichotomy and showcases why Po could grasp the scroll while he couldn’t

I looked at it a bit different, because it’s reflective when Po says it’s blank, he’s saying he’s a blank canvas to be moulded into something special, but when tai king looks and he says it’s nothing, the scroll reflects himself, saying that he is nothing, or that he views himself as nothing due to not being the dragon warrior, it’s great people can interpret things differently, that’s a sign of a good movie

An important thing to note is that Po’s dad never intentionally hinders Po’s desire to become a kung fu legend, Po simply didn’t have the confidence to actively pursue it or make it known. For all Mr. Ping knew, his son was perfectly content to take up the family noodle business. After all, from what we’ve seen Po was very studious in that field

I do love that although he is a prodigy, he still has to work and is still learning. Like in this movie, although he learned with Shifu, he barely got the dumpling with Shifu and then with Tai Lung, he had to actually think about his environment and get hit a few times to learn that he can redirect. He actually learned what Shifu said when you say, "Using your opponents' strength against them." When Po was fighting Shifu the first go around. And even in the second, there is a difference in that he's actually fighting proper and is even leading the 5 in a way, like he's made these different strategies like who can fight with who and how.

The Kung Fu Panda movies are a perfect example of "don't judge a book by its cover." everyone thought this would be just your typical kung fu comedy type movie but man these are some of the most heartfelt movies out there. One of my favorite moments is "I stayed because I thought, if anyone could change me, could make me not me, it was you." This is Po basically admitting outright that he kind of hated himself and wanted to change, only to realize later he didn't need to is just good stuff. It's something a lot of people might not realize they need to hear. And then the second film just...oh man. "You gotta let go of that stuff from the past because it JUST doesn't matter." Who would've thought JACK BLACK could get emotional.

White boy on the left is a bit misinformed. While Kung fu in Chinese is pronounced “Gong fu” it doesn’t mean time. The character 功 (gong) can directly translate to “work” and the character 夫 (fu) is a suffix which can mean many different things, one of which being “time” but the two characters together “gong fu” does best translate to “bitter work” so Suraj was right.

He _literally_ made his dream come true using what he already had! (with the wok as the hat, and his apron for a cape.) Not only that, but every part of the fight with Tai Lung he uses something that was frustrating, or painful, or embarrassing earlier in the movie. He learned about the flexible tree by getting hurt by it. He learned how to fall down all those stairs and not be seriously hurt by being thrown down them. He was too fat to get much out of Mantis' acupuncture, and it forced Tai Lung to fight fairly. He got forced to submit due to the Wuxi Finger Hold, and made a point to figure out how it worked. And most of all, the fact that he was so silly and full of fun is why he could take Tai Lung by surprise. The same thing that stopped him from gaining respect and progress through intensity and anger like everyone else made him unpredictable and kind of unstoppable.

This film holds up so damn well. From the musical score (top ten animated film scores), to the fight choreography, to the cinematography and set pieces, to the characters, jokes, and obviously the message. I feel like the second film had higher highs (Gary Oldman ftw!) and lower lows, and the third film was genuinely a disappointment, but this first film is timeless. Glad you enjoyed it Normies, and this was a good couch for it. Hope it’s the same for the sequels.

actually, it was more than 1 day. the montage showed that they trained many days and nights. it doesn't specify the time, but it does say that they were training for a while. besides, the Furious 5 were travelling by foot. sure, they're animals, but the animals is just the asthetic for this world. i'm certain they had rests and it took them several days before they reached the end of the valley.

Northern Shaolin: Five Form Method Fist or (Wuxing bafaquan / Wu Xing Quan) is the Crane, Tiger, Monkey, Snake and Mantis the Furious Five are based on. Its spun-off the Southern Shaolin: (Ng Ying Kung Fu) Tiger, Crane, Leopard, Snake and Dragon. Obviously this is where we get Dragon Warrior from, while the villain is a Leopard. Alternatively, there is (Wuqinxi) Five Animal Play with the Tiger/Liver/Wood Element, Deer/Kidney/Water Element, Bear/Stomach/Earth Element, Monkey/Heart/Fire Element, and Crane/Lung/Metal Element. Idk if related but Bear could have contributed to the Panda Bear selection.
