That's great to hear :) A lot of the beautiful elegant forms with the fan, don't clearly show the actual application. Here's a short video with one more combo kzread.info/dash/bejne/f6qt05iukdu6ntI.html

Excellent video! I'm learning the form 18 movements of the Fan - Tai Chi Chuan Yang style, when you have time take a look at my channel where I recorded a video of the practice. I really liked the part of the technical applications presented here. Incidentally, technical applications should never be dissociated from the practices of traditional forms, as no movement there is without a martial objective that ensures many suggestions of applications and combat strategies that are made available to those who delve a little deeper into these aspects, which is not excludes the holistic character of oriental martial arts, which shares with other aspects present in the cradle of their formation and development process. Content like this only enriches our journey through the martial arts. Thanks for sharing. Gratitude.

Thanks gnzen, I will check out your form for sure. Indeed it is good to practise both forms, isolated applications like this and pressure testing. It's rare to find footage of this weapon used in sparring (I believe the 3 videos I've done with it are the only ones on KZread), the third one isn't as interesting as the other 2, but check out these 2 sparring videos with the fan kzread.info/dash/bejne/qpWW08SvgriWcZc.html (vs an empty handed Karateka (coincidentally Karate means empty hand) who uses an in and out style). kzread.info/dash/bejne/qKGYsqeff6yvdrQ.html (vs a pressure fighter with a concealed knife, in that one we end up on the ground quite a bit)... I also have a third fan sparring video, fan vs butterfly knives but that's a short one and I didn't succeed with much in that one.

@@ZenDragonKZreadChannel these sparring and champinship fights are, without doubt, great oportunities to try to apply techniques from the forms and test their flowness under preassure. Also important fundamentals for those who ingress on the martial art way. Very nice your content channel, it deserves a few good hours to check so many quality videos.

Thank you. For practising, you don't have to buy a kung-fu or tai chi chuan fan.... you can just buy a regular one.... Initially people in China started defending themselves with fans which were not designed as weapons, later on iron spikes were added to the fans for the purpose of making the weapon even more dangerous :)

Thank you Aleksandar Stojiljkovic :) Real ones are designed for the purpose of inflicting damage were made of metal, with sharp pieces at the end. The one I use in this video is of plastic, it's cheaper and fine for practise. I've tried using an iron version before, it's a little heavier but not much, it remains a light weapon :)

This is a demo, so for sure it all looks smoother than it does in sparring (or even more so, self defense), but these concepts apply. I have 2 sparring videos where I use the fan, each different, this one vs a distance fighter kzread.info/dash/bejne/qpWW08SvgriWcZc.html and this one vs a pressure fighter, where it ends up on the ground a lot and I mix in BJJ (if not for safety, I would have used the fan more on the ground to assist with ground and pound). kzread.info/dash/bejne/qpWW08SvgriWcZc.html
