Haha thanks Bill! I agree some of my videos can certainly make it look easier than it actually is.. but getting lots of seat time is key, I know with time you’ll get there, I have guys who commented on my videos a year ago saying the same thing and now these same guys are commenting telling me that their loader skills have come a long way with practicing and watching my techniques! Tim from Canada.. if you have a box, blade.. this would help you fix the parking lot. The box blade would work this would be the ideal tool.. you need to do this driveway invest in a box blade. This would be beneficial to fix this driveway.

Yes your correct, in this parking lot a box blade woilda made a huge difference and I believe I even mentioned it somewhere in the video.. I had a box blade years ago but sold it because it was a 6’ blade (too large) and planned to buy a 4 or 5’ box blade but never got around to it. Most my driveway jobs I can handle just fine with the loader as they are small, but on large area driveways like this a box blade would be much quicker because you could drag the material along and spread as you grade Vs. Having to bucket tons and tons of stone all over to different parts of the driveway

Thanks man! Iv certainly kept her busy this spring/summer! I only feel bad because the hydraulic oil was suppose to be changed before I started any side jobs this spring and that deffinelty didn’t happen.. I’m now like 150 hours overdue and they are VERY hard worked hours.. from 400 when I changed it last now to 950 hours I REALLY need to get the fluid and filters changed before I hurt my pump/trans, or hydraulics

Hey John, I actually just got a 5’ backblade the other day finally again for the first time in 2 years since I sold my (too long) 6’ backblade that I use to have. Like I told a few other guys, had I known this Jon was gonna be this big, and this extensive before I got there then I woulda waited till I got at the very least a backblade to bring along with me.. specially for the end where I had to spread 20 ton in that corner , I think it woulda been faster for sure

@@BiffsEquipment a backblade is ok but a boxblade is excellent for gravel and soil. Gathers up the excess and fills in the voids as you go. I have a 5ft back blade that I've pretty much stopped using because the 4ft boxblade is (IMO) a better tool for the job.

Another good job. I pretty much knew where you were going to be, for this video, from your comment on the last one. I will verify that, yes, this parking lot was rough.

Haha thanks Mark! Oh yah she rolls the coal now! I deffinelty have noticed a difference in power too BTW in my last few jobs Iv done .. mainly when pushing into heavy piles or bulldozing material… soon as the engine starts to lug it starts to smoke good and I can feel it has more torque.. least to me it feels that way.. I’m excited to eventually get my turbo setup put on because then I’ll really be making more power! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed!

I actually had no idea It was gonna be this large of a job till I got there, the customer added alot more work to the job after I got there otherwise I may have brought a backblade or boxblade with me but in the end it all worked out and the little BX FEL came through as usual. Your handling of that tractor is amazing, I'm pretty sure you could polish a turd with that tractor. I know there are other guys that would have needed several attachments to get that done and you just needed the loader. Bravo.

Nice job as always. You are good at running the loader. You might pick up some customers for the garages customers seeing the repaired lot.

Been working on my driveway last couple weekends with my BX. Removed 60 yards old material, brought in 60 new...because of the odd shape and overhead lines, I couldn't have the truck lay it down...had to spread myself...also, blazed 100' path into woods to get rid of the old material...

Yah I actually am in need of a new cutting edge, I think I may build my own, my current cutting edge is smoked.. as you saw when I stripped that sod, it doesn’t cut well anymore.. the stock cutting edge no longer sits out farther than the sides of the bucket which is bad news for stripping anything

You are awesome with that loader as usual but a box blade was made for that job. Business owner standing there saying "damn, I gotta get me one of those"

Thanks buddy, I complete agree! Seat time is everything when it comes to efficiency.. I watch guys using much larger and nicer equipment who take much longer to do the same amount of work. This entire job only took me about 4-5 hours.. it was much larger than I originally thought.

Your bucket skills are very impressive. I'm curious why you dont use a box blade. I find it much faster that just using the bucket especially for a job like that

you ever thought about geting a bolt on cutting edge i suggest the one everything attachments makes i like mine alot

Yah I actually planned on buying one when I first got my tractor but never got around to it, I also debated building my own but now with the price of steel I’m no longer going to, I found the Cutting edge from Kubota that bolts directly to my bucket lip is only roughly $130 so for that price it’s not even worth building one unless I already had the harnend steel laying around which I don’t. My factory cutting edge is worn right out so I’ll be buying the bolt on cutting edge very soon. Thanks for watching!

Great question Jay, if I were to do a lot more parking lots of this size I would most certainly get a 4’ grader box.. either that or a backblade.. I get alot of people like land planes but land planes don’t work as well for digging up what’s already there, they seem to work best for spreading and grading new material or material that’s already there but for an actual driveway repair where you need to get it down to the base like many of my jobs entail then id get a boxblade or a backblade because either one of those will work great for both digging up old material and spreading out/grading back fresh material. I actually was given a 5’ backblade the other day by one of my customers I did work for over the weekend. It’s a brand new northern tools backblade. I plan to do a video this summer using it or possibly bust it out next time I have a driveway job if need be. I wish I woulda had it for this one. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

In the end it all worked out tho but yes I woulda perfered even just a backblade on this particular job.. I woulda just used the FEL for finishing touches and a few other things had I brought one. All in all tho this job only took me between 4-5 hours to complete.. which I feel attests to how fast I am with my FEL. Thanks for watching!

It's quite amazing what you do and do well with that little tractor and loader. Why do you not use a Boxblade with Scarifiers?

To be honest I had no clue this job was gonna be THAT big till I got there.. and the very first thing I told the guy was “damn I wish I had brought a back blade or a grader box with me” as I agree it woulda been much easier on the tractor tho I don’t think it woulda turned out quite as nice when I was finished as I can do better/finer detailed work with the loader

Thanks Tony! When I back drag with the bucket I use both float and no float.. often I will start with no float and end in float, other times I will start in float and add a bit of down pressure if it’s not spreading how I want or as thin as I want ..I also curl the bucket back as I’m back dragging with helps to give a smooth finish when your done with your back drag. I plan on making a video sometime this summer going into detail of how I back drag and use my FEL for moving/grading different types of material so stay tuned!

Thanks man I’m glad to hear it! Iv had such a busy summer this year with the BX, she’s done a ton of work and is 200 hours overdue on my hydraulic oil change so it needs to be done asap but I’ve been trying to wait till my pole barn is finished so I can change it in my new pole barn but at this rate I’m not sure I want to wait much longer and may have to just bite the bullet and change my fluid in my driveway haha

@@TheHomePros6221 it doesn’t your right.. but what I’m most concerned about is the screen inside the trans.. I can guarantee that’s getting clogged up with material.. also the regular hydraulic filter too.. this restricts flow and causes issues which I think is why my loader valves been sticking this year.. contaminates in the oil is what causes it but your right .. generally hydraulic oil itself doesn’t go bad.. it just either gets contaminated or it gets cloudy from moisture over the years

Thanks Scott! It’s a DJI Mavic Pro, Iv crashed it about 12 times, one time from about 40 feet in the air and it plummeted to the ground.. never broke a single thing on it , it’s one tough drone. Iv only crashed it when trying to get a perfect shot or angle that I wanted, (not being careful) lol

Do you have the hardened bucket edge bar installed?

Hey Robert, no I am only using the factory cutting edge, it’s currently worn completely out, it no longer sits out fathers than the sides of the bucket so I need to fabricate a new one very soon. It no longer strips sod like it use to either. I’m debating on buying the bolt on cutting edge Kubota makes for it but there are some things I don’t love about it so I havnt get

What size trailer do you pull your bx with. Do you like the size? I’m picking a bx2380 up this week but figure it’s a good time to buy a trailer.

The trailer I use is only a 5x12 but I don’t recommend it.. it can be sketchy at times and Its even a heavy duty trailer. I have a heavy dirty 3500lb axle under it, and have even beefed up the frame and the ramps.. and tho it gets the job done I wish it was not only 1’ wider and 2-4” longer but I also wish it was a tandem axle as it can be tough to get proper tongue weight when I have to being other attachments with me and it’s very tough to make it all fit at a times.. I would recommend a bare minimum of a 6x12 tandem axle but a 6x14 would be perfect. Thanks for watching!

i've noticed that when you have a heavy load, your tyres don't seem like they are squished down any at all... i have a 2380, when i have a full load of dirt or stone or logs, my front tyres almost look flat... i have turf tyres on mine, would the industrial tyres be stiffer? what psi do you use on the fronts?

Hey man, I Beleve the turf tires don’t carry the load quite as nicely as the tires I have or your typical r4 or r1 tire but I also run my air pressure pretty high.. I usually keep around 28-32psi in my front tires.. never going over 32 and never going under 28.. I usually try and keep them right at 30 or so and that is usually perfect for me. Try bumping your tire pressure up and seeing if that helps.. If you do a lot of loader work it’s almost a must as these front tires are small so they need a little more pressure than Kubota recommends for loader work IMO
