That was some good information, I have a 2015 Kubota BX 2670 front end loader, 240 hours, I think I'm going to do the transmission fluid and filter change on early, I don't like my tractor, I love my little tractor. LOL

Glad the fluid change fixed everything, that little BX is my hero. The amount work above its capacity always amaze me. I also love my orange tractor. Great video as always!

Hey thanks buddy! I was also very relieved the issues I was having went away and it was nothing more then clogged filters.. I was a bit worried the old girl was on a decline from all the abuse Iv given it (which wouldn’t have surprised me knowing how much I work it above it’s weight class) but was VERY pleased to know she was all good and I shouldn’t have doubted her for a second! Haha. It is a Kubota after all! Thanks for your comment and I’m glad my tractor means so much to you guys, even tho I’m hard on it shes still my baby too!

The hydrostatic oil change was easy to follow and very instructional without being patronizing, and I really thank you for that. I just copied with my bx2370. Thanks mate, I watched this ages ago and finally got to it so I can relate to tackling the procrastination too I have 380hrs on mine and the lower filter only had a couple of metal specs.

It certainly wasn’t “good” but it def wasn’t terrible either which made me very happy.. and the fact that all my issues went away right after changing the fluid and filter told me that I didn’t do any long term damage to my tractor I don’t think. I have a bx2380. The first time was right at about 50 hours and it started leaking on the plate around the rear pto shaft. I fixed that myself by simply redoing the rtv seal. The current leak isn’t that bad but letting the dealer handle it since it’s under warranty. It’s leaking right at the top of the transmission close to where the loader valve taps in. Pretty sure it’s the rtv again. The seat, fenders, and fuel tank will all have to come off to access that area so I’m gonna let them handle it. Nice video!

Hey Rodney! Nice tractor you have there! My Neighbor has a Brandon too as you can see in my first pole barn video where I unloaded the pole barn using it! Great old machine and still runs like a top! I’m glad this video was able to help you and give you some tips. I plan to do the engine oil change on camera too coming up here shortly I think, along with the fuel filter, stay tuned !

I did the hydraulic fluid/filter change when I did the 50 hour break in service....figured I was already there changing the filter I may as well change everything at 50 hours and get all the contaminants out of the system sooner than later. The filter screen was pretty clean when I did the service, which surprised me after watching a few other videos where their filter screens were extremely dirty/clogged. Except I did skip a step, I didn't drain the hydraulic fluid before I pulled that stupid filter screen LOL...I wasn't really thinking about it at the time, but once I pulled that screen out, oil shot out of there like a geyser LOL...I had a mess everywhere...but hey, the fluid got drained HAHA!!! I did drop the drain plug in the bottom of the transaxle to finish draining what was left. Not a hard process to do at all, these things seem pretty dang easy to service and maintain. I just had the Kubota 3rd function kit installed this past week, the dealer picked up the tractor Monday morning, had it back to me Thursday afternoon. So, at least that is done for when I get a grapple later on. I'd like to get the rear remote kit as well at some point as that hydraulic top link would be great for box blade work. I do know that quick hitch is extremely handy too once I got used to it, everything I get now I make sure its quick hitch compatible, or modify it so that it is LOL. I was doing some loader work at a friend's place a while back and rototilling and he couldn't get over all the stuff I was doing and swapping attachments without leaving the tractor seat. I think what surprised him the most was when I took the loader off all while sitting in the tractor seat. He was like umm do you have to get off that thing at all....I said well when you change attachments on the loader from like the loader bucket to the pallet forks you have to get off and flip 2 levers to remove an attachment and then flip them back down after attaching the next attachment....I said other than that, pretty much everything can be done from the tractor seat except attaching the PTO shaft for like a tiller or rotary cutter. Might have him talked into a BX23S as he kind of wants a backhoe model, I have the BX2680 as I don't need the backhoe functions and wanted the additional HP for the PTO LOL.

Haha sure sounds like you have your buddy convinced after he saw you do all that work with your bx on his land and just how simple it is to swap attachments! I’m glad you talked him into one, the 23s or 2680 would both be great picks! If he thinks he’s gonna use the backhoe a ton then the 23s obviously but if he thinks he’s gonna favor using rear implements more then the 2680 is also a good buy.. he can always buy a mini excavator down the road to go with his tractor like I plan to do if he decides he just can’t live with out a hoe.. but if all he’s doing is digging small ditches and stumps and that kinda thing then he may actually be better off with the Artillian trenching/stump bucket like I have. Sounds like you had a mess on your hands with the oil but I’m glad you got it changed! And trust me when I say your not the into one who’s removed the filter strainer before pulling the actual drain plug as Iv heard many story’s of people doing just that on their first change haha. Your right it really is an easy machine to maintain, Kubota did alot of things right minus their primary inline fuel filter which can be easily modded like I did with mine. Glad to hear you got your 3rd function on! Now she’s ready for some grapple action when the time is right! Stay safe out there!

@@BiffsEquipment He's trying to decide what route to take actually between the 23S and a mini-excavator...I told him to get a mini excavator and a 2680 LOL. That fuel filter under the tractor is a PITA for sure...I've been thinking about getting a bowl type fuel filter and installing that has the water separator on it....much easier to service than the nonsense dollar store filter under the unit....that is one place I give a huge thumbs down for Kubota, they could easily have spent another few bucks and put a much better fuel filter on these machines, in a much better location.

I can’t remember if I changed my trans filter at my 50 hr mark or not but since mine just went over 100 hours I’ll make sure I’ll do this service now and won’t have to worry about it until 400. Sure thing Brian! Sounds like a good plan, you’ll be able to spin the hydraulic filter off with the fluid still in the trans though you will loose a bit so just pick up a gallon or at least a few quarts when you do it.. also the factory filter is gonna be a son of a gun to take off as they spin the filter on dry from the factory so just be sure your ready for a long hard task when you go to remove it. The best thing that works is grabbing a very large set of channel lock plyers, opening them up and squeezing down hard on the filter and twisting that way.. you’ll bend the filter up and stuff but that’s fine, that’s usually what it takes to remove it. They also make specialized filter wrenches that look like channel locks only they have a round clamp on each end the size of a filter.. these work the best and can be picked up at any local hardware store typically. Don’t install the filter with these tho as they are only made to remove filters as they can/wil crush the housing a bit. Best of luck!

You are fortunate that the dipstick/fill port on your newer BX is located where it is. On my BX-22 from the early 2000s, that darn port is up higher in the middle between the top link attachment points and is a royal pain. Removing/installing the cap has to be done by feel and the dipstick is a separate little thang that's partially blocked by the tree point upper arms and a hydraulic hose.

Hey Jim, your right about the dip stick prolly being in a harder to reach space on the older 15, 22, and 24 models as they only had a cat 0 3-point back then .. it wasn’t a full “cat 1” 3-point which changed where the placement of the arms where it came out of the rear of the tractor.. prolly making it much harder to reach that dip stick. Hey Eric, great question! You are correct about it using oil on each side of the piston in the cylinders but because the one end of the piston is connected to the cylinder shaft .. the side with the cylinder will not hold as much fluid as the side with out it.. so if you want to get every ounce of old oil you can out of the cylinders then you’ll want to collapse all the cylinder rods as far into the cylinders as you can.. now there isn’t gonna be a ton more fluid going back to your resivor but there will def be some, maybe 1/2 a quart or something in total. This is also why you should always check your hydraulic oil level with the cylinders in the same position.. typically collapsed so that when you check the dip stick you are assured that it’s at the level you think it’s at.. as checking the level with the cylinders at different positions will change the level on your dip stick slightly which gives prudence to what I first said about the cylinder rams taking up space inside the cylinders. I'm at about 45 hours on my Kubota BX1880 and wanted to change the filter out and clean the screen, but wait a bit longer before changing the fluid. Anyhow, I went to locate the filter and I believe I did, although I'm a bit taken back because it is a solid black color, and the genuine Kubota filter I purchased from my dealer is white. I'm wondering if you have any idea why the original factory installed hydraulic filter would be black in color when the genuine part is white? Thanks

You probably changed it at the right time before it started doing any damage. Oh yeah liked the part about that's what she said. Still working on my Kubota hope to finish it soon.

Just bought a 2360 that the previous owner has had for 8 years and have never changed hydraulic fluid. It runs and works just fine but I won’t use it until the fluid is changed. So 782 hours overdue.

i just got a 2018 with 500 hours it seems a bit noisy at the top rear of transmission it that normal?

I use duct tape rolled around my fingers backwards ( sticky side out ) to clean strainers , like using a lint roller for clothes , takes everything off and no chance of forcing anything to the inside of strainer , its very soothing also lol

Manual specifically said not to use any cleaner on the screen

@@BiffsEquipment that’s understandable man, we had a 12x24 garage brought to the house other day and get these motor bikes and got me a JD riding mower as well and get these things inside keep them out of the elements, going to brace underneath better before pulling tractor inside, but had surgery and was in hospital for four days so have to wait until I heal up good before doing all that stuff I like doing. I’ll keep getting caught up on the videos here soon. Ol and glad to see you get caught up on your maintenance on your Kubota 😝

Great videos my man. Getting a BX2380 within a couple weeks. I was curious what pallet frame you are using? I got a lot of small trees I got to rip out on my new property and need to get a stump bucket to dig out the stumps. I want to get Artillian stump bucket. My dealer was also talking me out of the rear remotes for a top hydraulic link. I got a 200' gravel driveway and a natural spring in the area that I think eventually causes pot holes. I saw your install video, should I just see how it goes manually adjusting the blade box and install myself if I need the remote function for working the blade box?

Thanks Matt! As for the fork frame the frame is made and sold by Artillian as well, you won’t be able to use their stump bucket on any other frame because of the way they made the notches and the spacing so if you use their bucket which I would highly recommend then I’d also use their frame. As for your rear remotes, not sure why he would try and talk you out of it, the rear remotes are an awesome addition to the machine if you plan to use a boxblade or back blade or even a tiller alot. If you are pretty competent in your mechanical abilities then you could install it yourself and prolly save quite a bit of money.. but put aside a good 6-8 hours for the entire job if you don’t do it every day. If you follow my steps tho you’ll be fine I think. Congrats on the new BX by the way!

Hi Biff, just found your video on the transmission service. Nice in depth vid. I have a Kubota B7500 Hydro with loader and backhoe. I just did a complete service, engine oil and trans. Know what is happening is that my hydraulics loose pressure even when I'm running the tractor and the backhoe and stabilizers droop. No Leaks, fluids to correct fill levels. Would you know why this is????

It’s prolly got some cylinder drift because the seals in the cylinders did your stabilizers may be getting a bit worn out so fluid is prolly passing through and relieving the rams. How long does it take them to drift? Cuz some drift is normal and drift over a matter of hours or days is normal. If they drift down really fast with in 5-10 min then your cylinder seals are prolly a little tired

BX’s biggest design flaw is the hydraulic fluid is air cooled!

I couldn’t agree more Sean! This tractor could CERTAINLY benefit from having a hydraulic cooler like the JD 1 series has.. I debated making my own at one point too and I still might. If I do I’ll certainly do a video on it. That being said even with out a cooler, and the insane temps Iv had my fluid at, speaks volumes to how tough Kubota built these transmissions and hydraulic system on this tractor.. as not many people have transmission or hydraulic issues when it comes to the BX. That’s always a great option too! What did they charge you for it? Just curious cuz if it’s cheap enough then this would be a good recommendation specially to people who aren’t confident in their cleaning skills or don’t want to bother.. though these metal screens are made to be cleaned and not just replaced but again if a new one is cheap enough then it may just be worth swapping in a new one. @@BiffsEquipment I think about $60 or something like that. Noting that Donaldson OEM most of the tractor filters you can shop it once you have the part numbers for your model. On my brand of tractor it had the dumbest name and I missed it in the first service I did and had to run up the road and get one. If you get the parts manual you can find the model and then buy it.
