Thinking about buying the same tractor, but a 1978 with, presumably, 1700 hours. Are they as reliable as I've heard? Do they have a tendency to overheat? Would appreciate your thoughts.

I think they are excellent machines. I’ve never had any problems with mine, and I’ve ran it pretty hard on occasion. It’s never overheated on me. It’s possible that it could if you run it really hard when it’s 100 degrees outside, but you’d probably have to try to overheat it. The radiator fan runs off the motor and it runs all the time, and it’s speed matches the motor speed. It’s one of those direct drive deals.

How do you turn on the pto? I have same tractor but can’t get the box blade to come up?

PTO is the only left lever under your left thigh when you were sitting on the tractor. Three-point up and down on the back is the right lever on the right side of the tractor above the right tire

It takes about 90 days for Jubilee to reach maturity. So since you are two months out you have about 30 days left of maturation. If they are already at 25 pounds, the plants have more than enough space, if you’re on top of the watering, they should get to around 40 as long as your weather is good and warm. A little bit of liquid fertilizer probably would not hurt but don’t go too much.

@@melonking1 thanks I will definitely get a liquid fertilization system. How much fertilizer should I use per gallon of water ? I'm not sure since I've never done it before.

It depends on the fertilizer type. The label on whatever product you buy will tell you the rates.
