_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

My Great-grandfather was a Mason, I never really knew what that was until his Funeral. He passed in May 1996, by far his was the most interesting funeral I've ever been to. I was a young teen, All of these Men with white aprons and medals and some had staffs and some had Robe's, lined up the halls and viewing room and Chanted phrases and prayers. My Great grandfather was a wonderful man I miss him to this day. I was lucky to have 15 years with him ❤. He will always be my favorite person. But never really knew he was a Mason until his funeral

Did you say you were going to visit a Valence cemetery? My husband is of the Valence family. They immigrated to Louisiana in the 1800’s from Italy. And lived in Cheniere-Caminada also known as Grand Isle. His family was wiped out in the hurricane of 1893 except for the father, which is my husbands line.

Very young in my mortuary career, I was attending a graveside service for a Mason. I remember speaking to the Treasurer of the Lodge. He was a lovely old gentleman and shared with me some of the symboligy of what was a pictorial representation of the role a Mason held. I don't remember much, as it was many years ago.... i just remember his kindness and sharing his knowledge with me. Thank you for sharing this journey with all of us. ❤

As always - a great video. You and your research person really put in the work for these videos and they are always instructive and entertaining. Thanks so much! Gustav Johnson (sen?) came from Christiana which was the name of the city that is now Oslo. Also, the cross in the crown is a Christian symbol; however, it can also be found as a symbol of Knights Templar sometimes on a bed of swords or sometimes just plain so it can also be a masonic symbol.

It's great to see you out again Ron! And I love these stories of random people. People's stories whom we would never know except for you and your channel. It's great to do famous stories for historic reasons, but when the average person like me goes to the cemetery, we mostly look at unknowns as we walk along and wonder about their lives of which we know nothing about. Famous people are all over the internet and KZread and we can find out just about anything we want too about them over and over again. But there's so many people like you have mentioned here that are just as notable and sometimes more so, who don't get recognized just because they don't have a famous last name. So, it's really great to hear their stories. John Alfred for instance. What a guy! It's the unknown like him that helped other unknowns like us. He made more of a mark in life then most celebrities do. An unsung hero is what he was. There sure were a lot of great people buried in this cemetery. How nice to hear their legacy's through you and Deb. I really enjoyed this! Thanks Ron and take care!!

What a great note. You hit the nail on the head. I’m going to be doing more of these, because I think many of you do like this. And you’re exactly right, we can Google all the famous people, and that’s what everybody else is doing on KZread. I do still enjoy doing those, the lesser known ones… But Yes, when we walk the cemetery - we look at the names and we wonder what their lives were. That’s why the graves with the oval pictures are very intriguing, they almost come back to life. You wonder about all their experiences, each person is a storybook. Unfortunately, with most, the story of their lives are lost to history. But I will tell you this, it’s really interesting investigating and finding these stories!!
