KTM, Husqvarna, Gas Gas, wheel bearing install. These regularly go bad from riding in water, pressure washing, age, dirt. They are not hard to change and are a regular maintenance item.

This was the first video that explained the plastic liner, it's not in the wheel bearing diagrams or in the OEM replacement kit. I'll reuse the plastic liner. Thanks for that!
Great video, straight to the point and easy to follow
This was a lot of help! Thanks for the great video.
Very good video mate thanks
Thank you for your quick , informative and well explained video 5*
Good video, 👍
Thanks, that was really well explained (and quick!). Got some parts to order.
Is the drive side bearing not facing against the plastic liner? Like there is air between the bearing and the plastic liner? I have always thought the plastic liner is for the bearing to face against, the parts list list is as a distance piece..
Great video 👍 This is something I do only every second/third year and, each time, tend to forget one or two critical details. By the way, always wondered about the plastic ring and its function. It is easy to break when pushing out the bearing. Is it essential to replace? Many thanks!

Not essential to replace but without it the spacer may move around making it difficult to slide the axle through the hub.

@@TepcoCycleRepair Thanks! Not easy to get a straight answer from KTM dealers.
What size was that socket

I just changed my rear bearings (Husky TE250i). It had the black plastic spacer same as yours. I am finding that since the spacer is tight against the hub and the aluminum tube spacer it makes it much harder for the bearings to spin. Does the wheel you're working on do the same thing?

No, the only thing that should have pressure is the center collar to the center of the bearings to the spacers. Now if your bearings aren't fully seated, that will cause it to drag from side load.
the most annoying thing for me is to set up my tripod for the phone to record .. also that KTM its quite complicated around that bearing !

That's what takes up all the time, camera set up and editing!
... p.s you use too much Tongue :D haha you get too excited about knocking that thing out :D
6:56 Bad idea to hammer on the bearing with the hammer. I presume the bearing was cocked so you had to stop using the socket, but all the more reason to use a threaded rod, 2 nuts, and a stack of washers to pull the bearing concentrically to the bore.

It can still go in crooked that way unless the threaded rod is the exact ID or the opposite side bearing isn't in yet. Light taps around the edge to straighten it out never came back to haunt me.

@@TepcoCycleRepair I know what you're saying about the alignment aspect. Ultimately it has to be done very carefully. I got real nervous seeing the hammer because it's also possible to hit the inner race in that manner. Another thing that can be done is put the bearings in the freezer before inserting them. This will reduce their size just like heating the housing expands it and ultimately it will reduce the interference required to assemble and it's more likely to align.

@@biketothetop i've done it the way in this video for years and years, never once have i had anything go south, you can be too anal over things at times when it's not needed.
