What's up BKLF gang! KTM gave me the new Enduro R to try out so I thought I would do a full review of the bike and compare with the SMC R as well. If you have any questions I did not answer in the video, drop a comment!

I had this bike for a month last year and I totally agree with your opinion. It is the one and only... DO IT ALL bike. It has been a year since I rode it last time and I cannot stop thinking about it so I buying it next week. Great video by the way. Greetings from Poland!

Awesome!! Hope you will enjoy it every day starting next week :) 👌👌
Great video. I agree with everything you said. I have 2021 model and have done 11,000 km. It’s such a versatile bike. I can commute to work, travel across the country, do trail rides, single track and rip in the twisties. I got a better seat and small screen which makes it a very comfortable travel bike. Perfect bike for Australian conditions. Cheers

Agree 100 per cent. I bought the KTM Powerparts screen and made my own mounting system (with a GPS mount built in) which is about 4 inches (100mm) higher than stock and it is totally buffeting free, in contrast to the Desert x and the Tiger 900 I have just tested. Really, I mean zero helmet buffeting at 100 mph + (160 kph). Rade tank up front (240 miles /400ks ) and a Seat Concepts replacement and there is no other bike on this planet so far which can come close at sub 150kg! Ridden half the world on it including all around the USA and Oz.

@@jamesfairmind2247 Thanks for your feedback. Agree on buffeting issue on the bigger bikes and lack of buffeting on the 690 with small screen. I tested the Norden 901 and couldn’t believe how bad it was compared to my 690 at 60 mph. I rarely go over 70 mph and favour the dirt and back roads so 690 ideal for my riding area. I am considering a T700 next, but 690 stays for now.

@@glossblack1098 Personally I think the 690 is way ahead of the T7 which to me seems heavy and sluggish in comparison. Yeah the Norden, almost as bad as the Desert X which is the worst I have tested so far buffeting wise.

I got the Seat Concepts, a steel bash plate and Barkbusters on mine. I also put a Dakar style tower on mine, that really cute the wind a lot.
Great video and review!

Hey buddy, nice vid and good choice! I have husky 701E 19` (engine with counter balancer, 275mm suspension travel) and just came back from 800km weekend ride/camp with my friends near Rus/Finland boarder, that was great! There were mostly highway and serpentine road kilometers, but also many gravel, dirt and sand roads to go and this bike rocks! Really `do it all machine` if you agree to cruise approx 120km/h on pavement (due to no wind protection), and has strong back and butt :) Btw, regarding fuel consumption/range i would say it is ~250km, warning light came on at 190-220km - depends on how many baggage you have or how in a hurry you are. It is based on my experience during last 12k km with next set up: tires Mitas E-13(1.7-1.3 bar)/E-12(1.5 -1.0bar), Mosko reckless 40 baggage system, Wings exhaust (must have, otherwise you may easily burn your baggage), Rottweiler fueling dongle (adds consumption a bit, but improves low revs and decrease eng temp a little). Hope you find this useful! Cheers from Russia!

Super useful!! Thanks for sharing. Stock the bike can do a little more km but is not as beefy! Enjoy the ride! Sounds awesome.
As you said, a great do it all bike. I did almost 4k kms on a tour around Spain with 17" wheels on my 701E and it was great (apart from the seat which is damn hard for touring, expected i guess) A few days ago i changed back to Enduro setup and this morning went to the woods, man i love it, great fun. Good thing here in Portugal you can go everywhere offroad. That '22 690E looks dope, looks better than the Husky imo.

I have a 2021 and all I can say is for me best bike I have ever owned. I really wanted an off-road bike that was still fun. Weight is a fun killer for me and in my opinion this is the closest bike made to perfect. It's not perfect but closest to it IMO.

Very enjoyable review - I am thinking of swapping my 1290 SuperDuke + Duke 690 R for one of these - lot of dirt roads where I live.

is this bike really loud? would you advise against it in a dense city?
I'd like to see a review of this on single track how does it handle the weight on single track and hard off road trails etc...

Geiles Video. In welcher Region fährst du normalerweise?

hello, I want to ask. if the bosch 9.1 abs module in the ktm 690 enduro or smcr is removed will the cornering abs technology also disappear? I actually just want to remove the sensor on the wheel but I'm afraid if an error appears like checking the engine on the speedometer or in the ECU.
@bklf202

I think there is a high chance of an error but I don’t really know tbh. Let me know if you find out!

Great video! Do you think you would reach this mountain and ride these offroad sections with your SMCR and still enjoy it? Do you think it's possible to "convert" the SMCR into enduro and have similar results?
@bklf202

I would say yes!

Hey mate, i would say you need to concern the difference in the suspension first of all, and, i`m not really sure, gear box ratios... I doubt SM can be convert to enduro that easy, but i hope Google have the answer :)
so how are you find the seat comfort ? great video cheers Steve/Australia

Can you do long distance on highway with a better seat and a little extra fairing?

Is that dash only available in Europe? I have a 2021 and my #1 complaint is the worthless dash.

Great video! Was wondering if you or anyone could help me, I’m trying to decide on a dual sport to get back in to riding. I rode sport bikes all through my twenties and rode a lot, considered myself a decent rider and only stopped after I lost a bad fight with a car. It’s been almost ten yrs with no riding other than a couple times and I have the itch. I have been looking at the Honda and Kawi 300s because they’re cheap and low power, I can scoot around and explore but don’t have to take it too seriously. I am concerned that I might get bored with either of them sooner than later and wonder if I would be better suited jumping straight to something like this KTM. But also concerned about the extra power when off road as I have basically zero experience on two wheels off road. Rode quads and even three wheelers as a kid but that’s it. What do you think of this bike for someone with my experience? I am also 6’2” and around 250lbs
@bklf202
Жыл бұрын
I would recommend the ktm 390 adventure. Massive bang for your buck. Not too much power, not too little. Enough to get into enduro but also not too enduro focused where you lose street capability. Then in two years, keep or sell and upgrade. That’s what I’d do! The 300s will get boring too quickly I think if you are coming from sport bikes. The 390 has quite a bit more power but also not too much so you can easily get back into it. The 690 might be a little too aggressive imo for getting back into it.
@bklf202

P.S. if you JUST want to do enduro (off road) get a 350 4 stroke or a 125 two stroke dirt bike to start with. I started on a 125 and they are the best to learn how to master a bike in difficult terrain. Hope all this helps.
Omg when does the review start.

Too slow? Still learning what’s best. Thanks for the feedback though my
Yea, the quickshifter must be operated with authority... You start pussyfooting, you get false neutrals which is not fun in the corners when you count on engine braking. :)

100% I have a 2021 and was really pissed to find out the new dash was only euro bikes.
Worst things to me about KTM 500, 690, and 890 adv R.... 1st gear isn't Short enough, and top gear isn't wide enough. The power they create now is more than sufficient for a top gear whether 5th or 6th that is wider ratio. So I hate 1st gear because it needs to be slower so you can navigate technical trails. And Top Gear is too short resulting in much higher rpm than needed for 55-75mph which is needed because they are street legal. If they improved the gears and fixed the frequent oil changes on the 500 it would change the riders on these bikes. They would pick up a lot of customers I think. And the 890advR is just WAY TOO HEAVY in spite of what they have done with fuel tank and kept the weight centered and low it's a tank. I own 2021 890adv R with Rotweiller Performance components and 2021 KTM500exc with Taco Moto components so they are both tricked out. I'm wondering about the 690but I'm concerned about the weight difference between 500 and the 690...
@bklf202

If hard enduro is what you do most I would stick to the 500. I also own an exc which I keep for just hard and extreme enduro because the 690 just does not cut it for me

Last autumn I have bought this machine in white outfit - 701 Enduro. My previous bikes were F850GS and CRF250Rally. But I sold both of those to have just one - 701. And the bike is perfect for me - daily commute, weekend off-road fun and recently - first long distance trip (kzread.info/dash/bejne/mK6ottKQaM-0dqg.html) the bike does it all and does not hesitate a bit. Great machine and I couldn't be happier with it. Thanks for your review. Impressive riding skills 👍
