KTC M27T20 Monitor Review - One of the Best New Mid Range Monitors?!

Ойындар

KTC is an up and coming monitor brand to keep an eye out for. I see other creators making videos and larger channels aren't getting many views right now but it's only a matter of time before this brand blows up in popularity. This is a great monitor and I'm excited to try other ones in their line up. The specs with their monitors are very similar to those you find on major brand monitors like the Samsung Neo G7 but at a fraction of the cost in some cases. Let me know if you have any questions about this monitor and links are below for this one as well as the other ones mentioned in the video.

That firmware update is remarkably important! I installed it on my M27T20 and it started behaving like a totally different monitor. Everything works the way it's supposed to now, and you absolutely can run Variable Refresh Rate with Local Dimming.

This is a fantastic review, I have this monitor and I have to agree with you on 99.95%. I was able to have clear text with some monkeying around with the setting on a better display app on my macbook pro m1 Max, I havent yet hooked this up to my windows mid tower build but Id imagine it will be less cumbersome on more intuitive that the MacOs was. For My use this seems to fit the bill since I dont game much, just media consumption and work in healthcare which is a lot of overkill but once you use a high refresh rate monitor, gamer or not there is not going back. Of note, I hate matte displays until I got this, it somehow manages to make images pop without any of the glare.

Like the monitor reviewed by Monitors Unboxed (CM GP2711), this one has a fatal flaw as well in the sense it completely fails greyscale tracking at the low end, crushing blacks and making it unusable with dark HDR content. Doesn't matter whether you use the EU 2.0.3A or the US latest firmware, the problem persists and makes this display worthless. It also has massive issues with clamping to sRGB, gamma, having replaced 4 units.

So based on that level of breakdown I would consider you a hardcore enthusiast/gamer and I wouldn’t recommend this monitor as I mentioned in the video. Top tier monitors might not be in your budget but your list of monitors within your budget and the quality you want makes for a smaller list. I leave those reviews for hardware unboxed and more in depth channels as it’s not my skill set or knowledge base.

So if you're coming from a really bad monitor, this is definitely awesome, but if you're coming from a decent IPS to begin with, idk if I could fully recommend this. If you do, I recommend getting techless' ICC profile, and then some minimal manual tweaking. VRR + hdr + local dimming does in fact work with the firmware update. HDR for videogames is pretty slick, but the experience with films and tv shows is well, bad. Idk if that's just how windows handles hdr content or what, but I seriously don't think I'd consider this if movie watching was a big concern. I went from a 180hz ips to this, and the motion clarity feels the same to me (it wasn't the best IPS admittedly).
