KT Tape: Hip Flexor

CHECK OUT THE NEW VERSION: • KT Tape - Hip Flexor
The hip flexor muscles serve to flex the thigh and pull the knee upward. Hip flexor injury is typically caused by an acute (specific) injury during an explosive movement such as kicking, changing direction quickly, or breaking into a sprint. The injury could be a sign of core weakness such as weak abdominals.
The pain typically presents on the front of the hip and can radiate down the thigh and will become worse when attempting to move the leg forward or upward.
Treatment entails resting, icing, light stretching, and eventually balance training and strength training. Using KT Tape will help to increase blood flow as well as send positive signals to the muscles affected. These signals promote rest, support, and healing.

    KT Tape Pro doesn't split. If you watch our latest video (there is a link on this video) you'll see we updated the technique so you can do it without splitting the tape. However, KT Tape Original still has the split if you prefer that.

    @landgreenmtb Absolutely. The tape doesn't make your muscle dependent on the stimulus. One of the great things about KT Tape is that it is a therapeutic technique. If you got a massage every day for 3 weeks and then didn't get a massage anymore, you would obviously still be better off because of the massages, and would function fine without them. Getting the massage just made you that much more flexible and less tense - and that benefit doesn't end when the hands come off of you.

    @jshealy KT Tape helps alot with stability. I'm sure our clinicians would recommend a custom app if you wanted to leave some details on our website under 'ask an expert'.

    Would this be applicable for a labrum injury? Or rather, what type of taping strategy would be recommended for such?

  • @joneberle
    @joneberle13 жыл бұрын

    @landgreenmtb The tape will not weaken the muscle; in fact, the tape will help you to train the muscle to gain strength. The tape will inhibit the muscle when you are not using it (open chain) and stimulate the muscle when you are (closed chain).

    I've tried this application as well as the new one without splitting. I can't tell which one is more beneficial for me (one was a long run and the other was much shorter, so hard to say whether it worked at all during the short run as it doesn't bother me until I reach a certain mileage). The doctor says I have a sartorius strain, a weak hup abductor, and a weak hip flexor. Any advice about which tape application would be most helpful would be appreciated. Thanks!

    So, is this how you tape for a shortened hip flexor? Is that why you tape in a stretched position? Do you tape different if the hip flexor is over-stretched? Thanks!

    Sometimes after a while of walking slow, I get pain exactly where the dot is on her shorts. Like I can't fully flex my thigh. It feels like it desperately needs to pop but doesn't.

    I don't really have significant pain anymore. The front of my leg just seems to hang and a standing x-ray shows the left hip is 9mm higher than the right. A heel lift is all I've found that helps in daily life. Might this help with stability during sports?

    Hey, I'm having some sharp pains just above my iliac crest? around the external oblique. It only happens when I lift my right leg to juggle the ball(soccer). I looked at a diagram and I believe it could be the oblique due to it hurting while I'm stabilizing on my left leg in which would use my core muscles slightly. Please help.
