I've heard some people have good results and done some research into it. It seems most experts and studies suggest it's possibly mainly a placebo effect. But if it works for you then there's no harm in using it.

Yeah, it's very non invasive so a "good placebo".

Most studies I've seen support the idea of enhanced profusion or bloodflow that it promotes at the very least. Structurally nobody seems definitive but if it's not hurting then there's no problem like you said.

KT Tape helped to wean me off an ankle brace when I started running since it supported my existing ligaments and muscles. Now I use KT tape to support my IT band and hip flexors during long runs.

100 miles?!? And a year later my reaction?!? That’s epic. I’m glad to hear it helps. I’m just starting in my running journey so any bit to keep the shin splints down is good for me.

I’ve never used it for an injury but it’s absolutely the best solution for blister prevention if you have a shoe that gives you a hot spot. Unlike a bandaid, it’s immovable-like having an impenetrable 2nd skin. Martha

QOD: Using it right know for knee support. And used for shins before as well. Another tip...if you don't want to rip hair out when removing then coat the tape in vegetable oil before removing. It counteracts the KT adhesive and pulls of buttery smooth.

QD: My big toe started hurting after long runs. It was the muscle that flexes my toe up. Putting KT tape on to inhibit the movement helped a lot. In the end I rested it for over a week and haven’t had pain since then, but there was a several-week long stint where the pain wouldn’t go away and the tape helped reduce the pain and help me have way less pain after a long run. My advice: keep watching KZread videos on how to apply it. A few videos in I found a much more simple way to tape my toe just as effectively that was faster, easier, and used less tape. Thanks for another great video Seth! You’re an inspiration!

KT tape is just a band-aid. Fixing the root of the problem will help. Check out Knees Over Toes Guy. His workouts will bulletproof your joints. It really does work. I had IT band syndrome and after starting his Zero program, it went away in 3 weeks and has never returned. I've had NO running injuries and my joints feel great. Just ran my second marathon ever and its the second in six months. Higher volume for me and I had no overuse injuries because of it. TRY IT OUT!!!

I'm happy for you to have this sponsorship. But I will stick to my unbranded tape. It looks and feels exactly the same as the pro tape I tried once, might come from the same factory... $2 for a 5-mtr roll, so I can cut to size. I prefer the skin color version, so I don't have to explain to people what's wrong with me 🙂

I would recommend trying barefoot running. It won't fix injuries, but I use it to prevent them. A few miles a week are all you need to fix imbalances in form and maintain your health.

QOD: I used a generic brand of KT tape from Walmart to help me continue training when I had a minor case of runners knee. The quality was not good and the tape fell off every run. While the tape was in place it did help though. Get the real deal for KT tape and don’t buy the cheap stuff!

So the only places I use KT tape is on the bottoms of my feet and back of my ankles to stop hotspots and blisters which for that, it does an amazing job. It also provides a little more cushion for people that are getting into running and are a little more new. It helped me a lot when I just started a little over a year ago. Besides that I've had no success at all. I have a lot of loose skin from a dramatic weight loss of over 250 pounds. But I also did research and there's nothing really stating that this stuff is very beneficial. When I'm investing in something I tend to try and find some medical evidence to back the reason for me making a purchase because let's be honest this stuff needs to be reapplied every couple of days. When you run everyday that can start to be costly especially when you can't seem to find any medical literature backing up the claim. If it helps you out then I'm all for it but personally speaking I've had no success besides blister prevention and stopping hotspots which eventually turned into blisters and stopping the abrasions on the backs of my ankles when I'm trying to do a longer race. Now when it comes to compression items that's where I've had the most success. Having a lot of loose skin can be embarrassing when you're running and trying to do around a 7 minute mile because of all the slapping from your loose skin areas. I've also had a lot of success with compression socks closer to the beginning of my running because I used to get pretty bad shinsplints as my body got used to it.

I have used kineso tape (stratchabel tape) on my enkel when i had an over use injury. Did it on advice of my fysiotherapist. Due to the tension created in the tape when strached, the tape lifts te skin a little. Therefor the blodflow is slightly increased which helps with the healing proces of damaged tisue. When you want to stabilise a joint its probably beter to use a non strachable tape.

So I always used Kinesiotape, just a different brand. It stuck better than kt tape and you could cut the specific size strips you needed. I didnt like the pre cut strips kt tape gives you. Just an opinion if kt tape works great for you than thats great

QD: I used to use KT tape for a number of issues, but following a deep dive into the literature I stopped using it. Any decent meta-analysis of the research (I.e. only including independent studies, with proper analysis (no P hacking), a proper control group, etc...) concluded the effectiveness of KT is negligible. As several people have pointed out its probably placebo, which if your trying to rehabilitate an injury may not be a good thing. As you always say Seth listen to your body and any placebo effect is only going to be detrimental to this process. This can be difficult to hear, it was for me after spending alot of money, time and leg hairs on KT

Strangely that I've purchased this product and haven't tried using it yet, still using Knee Sleeves from Tommie Cooper. In the military it's a challenge to wear certain items without clearance from a Medical Official. Thanks for the review, I will try mines with my weekend walk/hike with my friends.
